Company Description

The Office of Harb Gill, Member of Parliament for Windsor West, is seeking a full-time Constituency Assistant to be based in the Windsor West office.

We are seeking a highly motivated and adaptable professional with a strong background in communications, research, and public service to join our team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Job Description

Constituent Services & Outreach

  • Respond to inquiries via the general office mailbox, phone, and in-person, providing support on federal government programs and services.
  • Manage multiple constituent case files, ensuring timely and effective follow-up.
  • Assist with local outreach efforts and engagement initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with constituents, community organizations, and local stakeholders.

Administrative Support

  • Maintain and update internal databases and filing systems.
  • Schedule and coordinate meetings, manage the MP's local calendar and travel arrangements.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence, including mail and email.
  • Monitor office supplies and ensure inventory is restocked as needed.
  • Answer general inquiries and provide front-line office support.

Communications

  • Draft and distribute newsletters, columns, op-eds, news releases, media advisories, letters, and householders.
  • Assist in managing the Member's social media presence, including content creation and scheduling.
  • Coordinate with the MP, Chief of Staff, and other team members on communication strategies and projects.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Relevant education and/or experience in communications, media, research, public service, or a related field.

Experiences:

  • Public-facing customer service experience with a focus on clear, respectful, and solutions-oriented communication.
  • Experience with email systems and database management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in high-pressure, fast-paced environments.
  • Solid understanding of the Canadian parliamentary system and alignment with the values of the Conservative Party of Canada.

Skills:

  • Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving abilities; self-motivated and adaptable.
  • Ability to adapt to shifting priorities and work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, discretion, and a strong commitment to confidentiality.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and sound judgment.
  • Ability to remain flexible and effective under pressure while responding to evolving priorities and short-term demands.

Assets:

  • Familiarity with the communities of Windsor West.
  • Familiarity with design tools such as Publisher and Adobe Photoshop.
  • Experience in parliamentary or academic research.

Additional information

Salary to be negotiated commensurate with experience and qualifications and will be set in accordance with applicable House of Commons requirements.
