Position Summary
We're looking for a dynamic Director of Human Resources to lead the people function and serve as a strategic partner to our executive leadership team. The ideal candidate is a seasoned HR professional who brings both strategic insight and operational excellence to support a high-performing, inclusive, and purpose-driven organization.
This role is responsible for developing and executing people strategies that attract, develop, and retain top talent, while fostering a culture of engagement, equity, and continuous growth. The Director of HR will oversee all aspects of human resources including talent acquisition, employee relations, organizational development, total rewards, and compliance.
This role is on-site in Pointe-Claire, QC and reports to the CEO.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic HR Leadership
- Partner with executive leadership to design and implement an HR strategy that aligns with organizational goals and business priorities.
- Champion organizational culture, values, and leadership development initiatives that enhance engagement and performance.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders on people-related matters including workforce planning, team structure, and leadership coaching.
Talent Management & Organizational Development
- Lead talent acquisition strategies to attract, engage, and retain a diverse and skilled workforce.
- Design and implement effective onboarding, performance management, and succession planning programs.
- Drive employee development through learning and career growth opportunities aligned with business needs.
Employee Engagement & Culture
- Create and implement initiatives to foster employee engagement, inclusion, and recognition.
- Monitor employee sentiment through feedback tools (e.g., surveys, focus groups) and develop responsive action plans.
- Promote an open and inclusive workplace culture where all employees feel valued and empowered.
Total Rewards & Compliance
- Oversee compensation strategy, benefits administration, and pay equity initiatives in partnership with Finance.
- Ensure compliance with federal, provincial/state, and local employment laws, as well as internal policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate and compliant employee records, handbooks, and HR systems.
Employee Relations & Risk Management
- Lead the resolution of employee relations issues, ensuring a fair, consistent, and legally compliant approach.
- Conduct and oversee investigations related to workplace conduct, grievances, and conflict resolution.
- Proactively assess workplace risks and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
Qualifications
- 8-12 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5 years in a senior or director-level leadership role.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and coaching skills with a high degree of integrity and emotional intelligence.
- Proven experience in designing and delivering strategic HR initiatives that drive business performance.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices across multiple jurisdictions (as applicable).
- Demonstrated success in change management, organizational development, and team leadership.
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, or related field, or HR certification preferred: CHRL, or SHRM, etc.
