Job Title: Solution Architect - Risk Management Systems

Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid - 1-2 days/week onsite, typically Tuesdays and Thursdays)

Duration: 10-month contract

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Solution Architect to support high-impact projects within the Global Risk Management (GRM) Technology group. This role will focus on modernizing and rebuilding the systems that support retail risk modelling, validation, and governance. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing robust, scalable, and secure technical solutions that align with strategic goals and enable the future state of risk modelling capabilities.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to Model/ML/AI Ops practices and cloud-integrated SaaS platform environments in a globally distributed architecture.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze complex business requirements and translate them into technical specifications and solution designs
• Design and implement architectural transformation plans to modernize legacy systems into scalable, distributed architectures
• Align solutions with enterprise roadmaps and identify new capabilities and business opportunities
• Review designs from the perspectives of infrastructure, security, data, and application development
• Author architectural patterns and promote adoption across internal teams
• Drive implementation of trusted governance policies and collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Security, Infrastructure, Data)
• Lead stakeholder engagement to resolve technical issues and advocate for strategic design principles
• Continuously evaluate emerging technologies and make informed recommendations
• Present insights and updates to senior stakeholders using dashboards and education sessions

Must-Have Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering or data engineering experience in the financial sector, ideally in financial risk management
• Deep understanding of the risk model lifecycle within financial services
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to lead and facilitate strategic discussions across multiple teams
• Experience integrating vendor platforms with enterprise systems, both on-premise and in public cloud (e.g., GCP, Azure)
• Technical depth in network infrastructure, security, and designing resilient architectures for systems managing 10TB+ data

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Familiarity with SAS/SAS Viya or other model development platforms
• Integration experience across GCP and Azure platforms
• Knowledge of risk and capital management functions
• Experience with trusted governance frameworks and automated architectural assessments
• Strong background in hybrid cloud deployments and migration strategies
• Understanding of various OS, databases, and modern development technologies
• Prior experience in architecture governance, solution delivery, and reference architecture creation
• Project management or SME experience in complex financial environments
