About Us

Westfield is a private secondary school in North York undergoing a quiet but deliberate transformation. With a renewed academic vision, growing student base, and new leadership team, we're entering an expansion phase focused on academic depth, interdisciplinary learning, and select faculty partnerships.

We are a boutique school moving fast-and looking to collaborate with those who are excited to help build something with agility, vision, and the freedom to shape programs.

This is an ideal role for early-to-mid-career educators looking for:

  • A fresh challenge without top-down policy constraints
  • Creative freedom and interdisciplinary crossover
  • A respected home base that rewards initiative and connectivity

The Opportunity

We're seeking a select few faculty members to join a high-trust academic team covering:

  • Sciences (Gr. 9-12, emphasis on Biology and/or Chemistry)
  • Business Studies (Gr. 11-12, Economics, International Business, Accounting)
  • Arts (Gr. 9-12, Visual Arts, Media Arts, Communication & Technology)

Ideal candidates will have strength in at least one of the three domains, with openness to crossover or project-based integration.

We are especially interested in educators who are:

  • Naturally collaborative, socially connected in the private school sector
  • Comfortable leading signature electives or developing new AP-style offerings
  • Thoughtful about pedagogy but not dogmatic-able to adapt quickly
  • Curious about working in a growth-stage independent school

Why Join Westfield?

  • Leadership in a Growth Phase: As a growing, agile independent school, Westfield offers real faculty voice and a chance to help shape new programs, systems, and traditions.
  • Career Trajectory: Faculty who grow with the school have historically moved into leadership roles, from program coordinators to assistant dean positions. We reward those who build.
  • Resume-Defining Authorship: While compensation is competitive, we know many educators also value being part of something in motion. What you help co-create at Westfield will be yours to claim.

Educators who grow with Westfield have the opportunity to:

  • Earn internal promotion into new academic leadership roles as we scale (e.g., Dean of Senior School, Curriculum Director)
  • Shape flagship programs in AP, interdisciplinary electives, and international student mentorship
  • Lead pilot initiatives that reflect your own expertise-entrepreneurship, biotech, media arts, etc.
  • Gain regional recognition as faculty are showcased in outreach, events, and national partnerships

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the Ontario curriculum across the following subjects: Business, Science, and/or Arts
  • Implement a variety of assessment strategies informed by Growing Success and tailored to diverse student needs
  • Actively contribute to curriculum development and academic planning as part of a collaborative interdisciplinary team
  • Maintain accurate student records and reports using digital platforms (e.g., Edsembli, Schoology)
  • Foster a high-expectation classroom culture that supports academic growth, personal integrity, and intellectual independence
  • Participate in co-curricular programs, events, and student life initiatives (e.g., clubs, arts showcases, business case competitions)
  • Engage in professional learning and share best practices with peers, helping to shape the future of our academic programs
  • Attend school events and represent the faculty at community-facing functions (e.g., open houses, info nights, academic showcases)
  • Embrace opportunities to lead or co-lead pilot programs, new initiatives, and interdisciplinary collaborations
  • Support Westfield's mission as a growth-phase institution, helping define its culture, standards, and identity from the ground up

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Passion for education and a genuine commitment to supporting student success
  • Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) Certification
  • 1-3 years of teaching experience preferred (exceptional early-career candidates will also be considered)
  • Strong technology background and comfort using digital teaching tools
  • High level of creativity in lesson design, assessment methods, and instructional strategies
  • Experience interpreting and applying Ontario Ministry of Education guidelines, particularly Growing Success
  • Experience working with students both in-person and online is an asset
  • Familiarity with Schoology, Edsembli, or similar school platforms is an asset
  • Background in co-curricular engagement (e.g., clubs, competitions, student mentoring)
  • Interest in taking on leadership roles over time as the school grows
