Job Title: Maintenance Manager

Location: Calgary AB

Department: Operations

Reports to: Director of Maintenance

Key Relationships: Facilities, Operations, External Vendors, Corporate,

Role Purpose/ Summary:

The maintenance engineer is responsible for ensuring equipment, systems and infrastructure runs efficiently and reliably. The maintenance engineer will work with the site maintenance teams and third-party equipment manufacturers to:

  • Design maintenance procedures and strategies for industrial equipment and building utilities
  • Identify faults and OEE issues
  • Respond to major equipment breakdowns, determining the root cause and arranging for repairs or replacements
  • Monitoring maintenance costs and parts inventories

Key responsibilities:

  • Create equipment specific maintenance procedures and plans
  • Collaborate with technicians and operators to gather accurate data for reporting purposes
  • Generating reports and analyzing data on equipment and utilities performance
  • Investigating machine failures or unexpected maintenance problems
  • Determine spare parts requirements and monitor spare part inventories
  • Training staff on equipment operating and maintenance procedures
  • Arranging for equipment repairs, upgrades and replacements including: Procuring replacement parts, Coordinating vendors and contractors, Communicating with production staff and leadership, Supervising install, Commissioning
  • Adhere to all environmental, health and safety rules and policies
  • Stay informed about industry standards, regulations, and best practices
  • Conduct other duties as required

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment (cannabis, pharmaceutical, food & beverage preferred) working with automation
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g. mechanical, chemical, industrial, mechatronics)
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate work in a cross-functional team
  • Experience leading Root Cause Analysis investigations
  • Certification in formal process improvement tools and methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma considered an asset
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong and effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong documentation and organization skills
  • Strong computer skills
