Position Summary

Under the direction of the Chief Human Resources Officers, the HR Generalist will support full operation of the Human Resources function for the group of Companies, integrating best practices and policies consistently.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the Chief Human Resources Officer in centralized Human Resources function for the group of Companies, integrating best practices and policies consistently;

• Work with Hiring Managers to determine staffing needs. Assist with candidate selection;

• Recruitment and selection, including job postings, resume screening, candidate interviews, reference checking, drafting of Employment Agreements and new hire announcements;

• Administer onboarding procedures and conduct HR orientation;

• Coordinate the development and implementation of an integrated set of policies, procedures and practices, ensuring corporate compliance;

• Create, revise and maintain Job Descriptions and Organizational Charts for the group of Companies;

• Coordinate and assist in Employee Recognition programs;

• Assist with employee relations issues, including but not limited to conducting investigations and delivering disciplinary/performance improvement actions as necessary;

• Collaborate with employees and Payroll Administrators to facilitate and manage injury and disability claims;

• Assist in the development, implementation and administration of new Human Resources initiatives, projects and training sessions as required;

• Coordinate HR compliance initiatives related to various federal, provincial, and local regulations;

• Set up and maintain HR related data, electronic and paper files, in a confidential manner;

• Answer general HR related inquiries;

• Attend HR related workshops/seminars/summits;

• Attend, organize and maintain minutes of HR related meetings;

• Ensure and enforce compliance to all company, client and legislated safety policies and procedures;

• Any additional duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.

Education and Experience

• 5+ years of experience in Human Resources;

• Must have or working towards CHRP designation;

• Sound knowledge and understanding of legislation relating to Human Resources including but not limited to, ESA, Human Rights, AODA, OHSA;

• Knowledge of general administrative and clerical procedures;

• Knowledge of computers and relevant software applications: Microsoft Office, Internet, Sharepoint, Document Management Systems, HRIS;

• Knowledge of customer service principles and practices;

• Work in compliance with the provisions of the OHSA, Regulations, CD's Health and Safety Management System Manual, and internal policies and procedures;

• Attend all required health and safety training programs (e.g. WHMIS, orientation, tailgate talks), and apply knowledge to daily operating procedures;

• Know, understand and implement safe work practices, procedures, and established rules project activities and for handling materials, equipment and processes;

• Act to correct and report any contravention of the OHSA, regulations, or company H&S policies and procedures or any observed hazard to their Supervisor and EHS department;

• Refrain from operating any equipment, machine, device or thing, or otherwise working in a manner that may endanger anyone;

• Use all safety devices provided, ensuring optimum condition of devices and report any defects immediately to a supervisor and EHS department;

• Report any missing or defective equipment or protective device which could endanger any person to their Supervisor and EHS department;

• Report all injuries, incidents, hazards and unusual conditions immediately to their Supervisor and EHS department;

• Complete supporting documentation appropriate for circumstances listed above.
