Financial Analyst (Contract)
Edmonton, Alberta (Hybrid - 3 days in-office at Commerce Place)
6 months (with possible 6-month extension)
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze and interpret financial, contractual, and operational data
- Prepare project and annual budgets; support contract-level budget justifications
- Maintain a full contract inventory and conduct spend analysis
- Prepare zero-based budgeting (ZBB) reports and evaluations
- Support compliance with internal and external grant reporting
- Develop dashboards and reporting tools to inform strategic decisions
- Recommend updates to financial policies and suggest process improvements
- Investigate variances and support audits
- Work cross-functionally with finance, IT, and operations teams
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
- 3-5 years of experience in budgeting, financial forecasting, and spend analysis
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and public sector accounting standards
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and budgeting tools (ERP systems preferred)
- Experience with compliance, privacy regulations, and data governance
Nice to Have:
- CPA designation
- Experience managing program-level budgets and financial tracking
- Background in process improvement and documentation
- Understanding of IT-related finance or public sector financial operations
