JOB DESCRIPTION
As the Brand Marketing Manager, you will lead trade and channel marketing initiatives across all retail distribution channels, including brick-and-mortar and e-commerce. You will be responsible for managing retailer assortments, planning and executing visual merchandising, developing promotions, coordinating retailer animations and co-op programs, and analyzing retail sales performance. This role requires close collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders, including retailer merchant teams, visual merchandising designers, production vendors, integrated communications, sales, planning, and HQ teams.
Brand Strategy
- Strategize, develop, lead and oversee the execution of the overarching brand strategy throughout the fiscal year, ensuring all programs ladder up to helping achieve business targets
- Advise on financial target setting, ensuring monthly targets align with annual promotions and programming with retailers
- Create annual global report on business targets, strategic tasks and key performance indicators; present this information during annual conference, and provide regular performance analysis summaries to GM and HQ
- Adjust advertising and promotional plans when required to respond to changes in performance, budget, HQ direction, environmental trends, etc.
- Attend annual global marketing conference in Seoul, South Korea, once per year; develop and present materials on behalf of Canada during the conference
Data Analysis
- Monitor, analyze and report on weekly, monthly, and year-over-year growth trends related to net sales, sell-through and operating profit
- Share regular insights with GM, HQ, and all direct and cross-functional team members, ensuring all are equipped with the most up to date, accurate insights into business performance
Trade Marketing
- Act as main point of contact for Sephora and Amazon merchants, leading negotiations, bi-annual market meetings, launch strategies, pricing structure, contract negotiations, promotional opportunities, etc.
- Oversee execution of multi-branded and single-branded campaigns in partnership with Sephora (supported by specialist and senior specialist)
- Ensure annual contracted programs are fulfilled between Laneige and Sephora
- Approve visual merchandising updates, ensuring product layout is strategic and optimized
- Approve yearly sampling plans and eventing strategies, ensuring programming ladders back to over-arching business goals
- Approve external partnership opportunities with like-minded brand partners
- Negotiate promotional opportunities between Laneige and retailers
Social
- Oversee over-arching social media strategy (paid and organic) in conjunction with the Digital Media Assistant Manager
- Own budget allocation given to social media programming
- Assign monthly content focuses to social team, ensuring all content (paid and organic) is aligned with overall brand focuses on a monthly basis
Budget
- Own full advertising and promotion budget, setting the monthly budget and adjusting each month based on previous closings, changes to budget allotment, changes to strategy, etc.
- Oversee funnel breakdown of each line item in advertising budget, ensuring allocation aligns to HQ guidelines for accurate tracking
- Provide monthly forecasts to finance team
Mentorship
- Lead full team, including Trade Marketing and Social Media team members (ranging from Specialists to Assistant Manager level staff)
- Coach, develop and mentor team members, helping them learn, grow, and take on more responsibility via regular check ins, constructive feedback, acknowledgement of achievements, etc.
- Maintain positive morale amongst all team members
- Lead by example in all aspects of the job (professionalism, communication, adherence to company rules and policies, etc.)
Qualifications
- Experience in marketing (7+ years), beauty industry experience preferred
- Experience working with Sephora is preferred
- Post-secondary diploma/degree required. Marketing, Business, and Communications background preferred.
- Experience with trade marketing, product marketing, and launch support execution.
- Experience with budget management (tracking & forecasting)
- Understanding of customer and market dynamics as well as the beauty landscape
- Able to analyze sales reports and draw conclusions that can be applied to future marketing activations.
- Experience in giving presentations and leading cross-functional meetings.
