Location: Southwestern Ontario (London region - remote)

About the Job

The Design Sales Consultant - Built Environment (Office Furniture) is responsible for driving sales growth and expanding market share by championing design-led solutions within the commercial office furniture sector. This role requires a strong background in design or interior architecture, with experience working directly with architects, interior designers, and end-users to develop and implement office environments that reflect contemporary design trends and user needs. The Design Sales Consultant will act as a design consultant and trusted advisor, collaborating with dealers, design professionals, and clients to deliver tailored solutions that enhance workspace functionality, comfort, and visual appeal.

Key Responsibilities

Design-Driven Sales & Business Development:

  • Promote the company's office furniture solutions by emphasizing design innovation, ergonomics, and aesthetic value.
  • Work closely with architects, interior designers, and end-users to understand project requirements and recommend appropriate products.
  • Lead design workshops, product presentations, and space planning sessions for clients and design partners.

Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with architects, interior designers, dealers, and key stakeholders in the commercial office furniture sector.
  • Serve as a design consultant, providing expert advice on product selection, finishes, and integration with overall workspace design.

Market Insight & Trend Analysis:

  • Stay current with industry trends, competitor offerings, and emerging design innovations in commercial office environments.
  • Provide feedback to the product development team on design trends, client preferences, and market needs.

Dealer & Channel Collaboration:

  • Educate dealer sales and support teams on the design features and benefits of the company's products.
  • Collaborate with dealers to develop design-focused marketing and sales strategies.

Project Support & Implementation:

  • Assist with the specification and integration of products into commercial projects.
  • Support dealers and clients throughout the design, specification, and installation process.

Sales Forecasting & Reporting:

  • Participate in annual sales forecasting and territory planning.
  • Provide regular reports on design trends, client feedback, and market conditions to head office.

Corporate Program Support:

  • Understand and support the company's design, pricing, and policy initiatives.
  • Suggest improvements in design, product offerings, or marketing strategies based on market feedback.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Industrial Design, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in commercial office furniture, interior design, or architecture, with a focus on workplace environments.
  • Proven track record of collaborating with architects, designers, and end-users to deliver design-led solutions.

Skills & Attributes:

  • Strong design sensibility and understanding of commercial workspace trends.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and consultative skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Resourceful, highly organized, and detail-oriented.
  • High energy and comfortable managing multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Technical Proficiency:

  • Familiarity with design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit) is an asset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Travel:

  • Willingness to travel within the territory to meet with clients, designers, and dealers.
