About the Opportunity

Queensway Carleton Hospital Foundation is seeking an experienced, forward-thinking senior leader to join the Foundation team to lead transformational and major gifts and drive an ambitious fundraising plan as we prepare to launch a historic, comprehensive fundraising campaign for Queensway Carleton Hospital. To lead this bold initiative, we are seeking a candidate with fundraising excellence and a proven track record of securing major and transformational gifts at the 7- and 8-figure level.

The successful candidate for this position will be a proven major gift fundraiser responsible for leading the campaign, developing multi-year plans, and achieving yearly fundraising targets. A gifted relationship manager, the VP Transformational and Major Gifts will engage loyal supporters while establishing new donor relationships with highly connected members of the community.

Responsibilities
Campaign Leadership and Fundraising
Reporting to the President & CEO, this role oversees the strategic development, execution, and evaluation of a multi-year, $100M+ fundraising campaign. The incumbent will lead the capital campaign's planning process, implementing effective fundraising strategies, and managing a robust pipeline of donors across Ottawa and beyond. The role involves identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding transformational and major donors while ensuring financial transparency through annual budgets, performance reporting, and assessing risk, governance, and financial implications of fundraising initiatives. The VP will collaborate with QCH Foundation team members to ensure the optimal engagement and stewardship of donors, while maintaining the QCH Foundation's brand identity. The role also involves overseeing campaign communications, attending networking events, and supporting donor and partner recognition efforts to drive overall fundraising success.

Staff and Volunteer Management
The successful candidate will provide leadership in managing campaign staff and volunteers, offering training, supervision, and strategic direction. As the lead staff person supporting the Campaign Cabinet, they will play a key part in identifying, recruiting, and supporting Campaign Cabinet volunteers, ensuring their activities align with campaign goals, and ensuring volunteers feel engaged and well-supported. The VP will also conduct prospect reviews and evaluations in collaboration with Board members, leadership, and staff to advance fundraising efforts.

Key Qualifications and Competencies
Leadership & Strategic Experience: Over 10 years in senior leadership roles within complex environments, including academic or healthcare settings, with expertise in aligning fundraising efforts with organizational strategy.
Stakeholder & Relationship Management: Proven ability to build and sustain relationships with internal teams, senior leaders, Board members, donors, and volunteers, fostering collaboration and trust.
Judgment & Professionalism: Strong decision-making skills, exercising sound judgment, confidentiality, and discretion in diverse situations while maintaining integrity and accountability.
Project Management & Personal Initiative: Excellent project management capabilities, complemented by self-motivation, autonomy, and a continuous learning mindset to drive results effectively.
Technical & Communication Skills: Technological fluency in Microsoft Office and donor databases like Raiser's Edge, coupled with strong interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.

Specific Experience Competencies
Capital Campaigns: Proven experience in the development and implementation of capital campaigns.
Fundraising & Business Development: Experience utilizing the strength of an organization's brand for charity or business development
Financial Management: Experience in budget preparation and financial planning, especially in a non-profit organization.
Healthcare/Non-Profit Experience: Work history with a hospital or healthcare non-profit is considered an asset.
Bilingualism: Bilingualism is considered an asset.
Work Hours: This position requires occasional evening and weekend work as needed.
