Key Responsibilities:
Champion a proactive safety culture that emphasizes commitment over compliance through leading by example, celebrating safe behaviours, team wins, and proactively addressing opportunities across all business units and locations.
Ensure compliance with all applicable Federal, Provincial, and Local regulations related to occupational health and safety standards across all RONA locations and banners.
Support and guide the organization's response to interactions with regulatory agencies, including managing inspections, responding to orders or fines, and leading internal coordination during investigations to ensure timely, compliant, and effective resolutions.
Lead, coach, and develop a geographically dispersed team of Health & Safety Advisors, ensuring consistent application of safety standards and practices across all regions.
Set clear performance expectations and provide regular feedback through one-on-one coaching, team meetings, and performance reviews.
Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of health and safety programs in collaboration with cross-functional teams and business unit leaders.
Collaborate with the Learning & Development team to design and deliver effective safety training programs. Monitor completion rates and implement follow-up actions to ensure full compliance.
Support and engage Joint Health & Safety Committees (JHSCs) at each location, ensuring they are effective and compliant with Provincial requirements.
Lead root-cause investigations of workplace incidents and near-misses. Develop actionable recommendations to prevent recurrence.
Conduct regular audits, inspections, and compliance reviews. Ensure timely resolution of non-conformities in partnership with site leadership.
Coordinate with Asset Protection and Finance teams to manage service provider invoicing (e.g., consulting, emergency response services).
Utilize data and analytics to identify trends, assess risks, drive strategic prevention initiatives, and deliver measurable improvements in health, safety, and cost efficiency.
