Role: Construction Manager - High Voltage CT Replacement & 500kV Circuit Breakers
Location: Mica Creek, BC (approximately 140 km north of Revelstoke, BC)
Work Schedule: 4 days on / 3 days off (flexible and negotiable)
Compensation:
- Max T4 Rate: $88.12/hour
- Max Incorporated Rate: $106.62/hour
Preferred Candidate Location: Within 400 km radius of Mica Creek, including Kelowna, Kamloops, and Vernon (Okanagan region)
Role Overview:
This role is primarily field-based and requires a Construction Manager with extensive experience in high-voltage electrical projects. The successful candidate will coordinate internal resources to manage the installation and commissioning of major electrical infrastructure, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate internal resources for the installation and commissioning of:
- 500 MW generator neutral Current Transformer(s)
- Three (3) single-phase 500kV circuit breakers
- Plan and schedule outage and isolation requirements
- Develop detailed construction and commissioning schedules
- Manage a small team of Construction Officers to ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards
- Administer construction and supply/install contracts (as required), including RFP development and claim mitigation
- Support stakeholder engagement and effectively manage internal and third-party inquiries and issues
- Provide subject matter expertise on construction best practices and technical problem-solving
- Assist with risk management throughout the project lifecycle, including the development of mitigation strategies
- Maintain and promote strong safety performance and compliance with relevant standards and regulations
Required Experience & Qualifications:
- Minimum 15 years of experience in construction management or equivalent
- Proven leadership experience in industrial construction environments
- Experience installing, testing, and commissioning high-voltage electrical equipment
- Strong contract administration skills, particularly with complex construction or supply/install contracts
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
- In-depth knowledge of construction methodologies, estimating, and contract management
- Strong understanding of safety regulations such as Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Standards and WorkSafe Regulations
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
- Advanced proficiency in English (written and spoken)
