About The Position

SearchKings is hiring a full-time lead front-end developer to join our dynamic Web & Creative Services team. You'll have the opportunity to deliver high-performing lead-generation-focused Jekyll, WordPress, and Shopify websites and web work that support our marketing campaigns while staying updated with industry trends and working in a fast-paced, fun environment. You will guide and mentor more junior developers in completing digital production projects, including but not limited to optimizing, building, and maintaining systems and teams to efficiently manage web work, ranging from developing sites optimized for pay-per-click advertising to WordPress themes and site builds.

You will work closely with Designers, Developers, and Project Managers to deliver these client marketing materials. Continually improving and modernizing our workflows, templates, and tools with your colleagues is also an integral part of the position.

A suitable candidate would be capable of commuting to our office three days per week after completing a full-time in-office training period of three months.

What you'll work on:

  • Lead a team of developers, defining and enforcing technical best practices.
  • Provide mentoring and coaching to other team members.
  • Work closely with a team of Designers and Project Managers to create conversion and lead-generation-focused front-end user experiences.
  • Debug websites regularly to improve performance.
  • Scope and provide estimates for potential projects or change requests.
  • Work collaboratively with other team members and project managers to constantly improve both technical and creative aspects of our products, workflows, and strategies.
  • Execute the development and quality assurance testing of Jekyll, WordPress, and Shopify websites.

As a senior member of the team:

  • Define and enforce technical best practices.
  • Continuously analyze and work with the team of developers to improve upon the efficiency and accuracy of our web development systems, tools, and workflows.
  • Perform code reviews as needed.
  • Work closely with the project management team to ensure project workflows and technical solutions are as efficient as possible.
  • Work closely with our creative lead and design team to ensure consistency with our design systems, goals, and branding.
  • Liaise with our operations and technical support teams to manage needs and impacts to websites and web-related materials.
  • Provide technical training and onboarding of new production team members.
  • Contribute to creating and maintaining technical documentation.
  • Develop relationships with and work closely with 3rd party web freelancers if needed to ensure optimal performance and adherence to partner agreement guidelines.

  • An understanding of what makes for an intuitive and seamless website experience from a customer's perspective.
  • Attention to detail and a passion for delivering high-quality design solutions.

All applicants must have:

  • 3-4+ years of hands-on experience developing HTML, WordPress, and Shopify websites, with a strong emphasis on custom coding, theme development, and plugin customization.
  • 1-2+ years of experience leading a team of developers.
  • Expertise in HTML5, CSS3, Node.JS, Tailwind, Bootstrap, Sass, and JavaScript/ECMA Script.
  • A portfolio showcasing your knowledge of website development best practices, demonstrating a strong understanding of technical principles and information architecture.
  • Prior agency experience or working within a team of developers, designers, and project managers is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of how to troubleshoot cross-browser compatibility issues.
  • Strong understanding of responsive web design techniques.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts clearly and concisely.

Applicant skills that are a bonus:

  • Experience in Shopify theme development and customization.
  • Ability to define and enforce technical best practices.
  • Ability to provide technical training and onboarding of new production team members.
  • Experience with prototyping software like Figma or Sketch.
  • Intermediate experience with using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop or other graphic design tools to produce appealing designs for print and digital marketing materials, websites, and banner ads.
  • Knowledge of vector artwork.
  • Possession of creative flair, versatility, conceptual/visual ability, and originality.
