HRIS Specialist - Edmonton (Hybrid)

The Role

Taproot is seeking an HRIS Specialist to lead the implementation and long-term ownership of a new HRIS platform.

This role will play a central part in configuring the system, guiding users, ensuring data accuracy, and supporting adoption across the organization. The HRIS Specialist will be a key contact for both internal stakeholders and the vendor, working across HR and operations to ensure a seamless transition and sustained platform performance.

Reporting to the Head of HR, this role is ideal for someone who thrives on structure, clarity, and helping others navigate change.

Key Responsibilities

System Implementation & Configuration

  • Configure system structures, job hierarchies, and scheduling templates
  • Manage user roles, access, and permissions
  • Conduct testing and ensure pre-launch data integrity
  • Liaise with the platform vendor to support rollout and updates

Internal Support & Collaboration

  • Respond to system questions from staff and managers
  • Troubleshoot issues and escalate as needed
  • Prioritize critical service requests (e.g., new team onboarding, leadership hires)
  • Collaborate across HR, operations, and leadership

Training & Documentation

  • Deliver training sessions and screen shares
  • Create and maintain plain-language guides and resources
  • Build long-term internal capacity within the HR team

Ongoing System Ownership

  • Maintain data accuracy, compliance, and reporting
  • Own ticketing process with vendor post-launch
  • Adapt system over time to meet evolving organizational needs

You May Be a Strong Fit If You Have:

  • Experience configuring or managing HRIS platforms
  • Worked in complex or multi-site organizations (e.g., nonprofits, public sector, social care)
  • Provided training and support to non-technical users
  • Managed priorities independently in a fast-moving environment
  • A strong service mindset and commitment to enabling others

Location & Schedule

  • Location: Hybrid, based in Edmonton
  • On-site: 2-3 days/week preferred
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM
  • No evenings, weekends, or on-call responsibilities

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $79,000-$87,500 annually, depending on experience and hours (32-40 hours/week)
  • Pension/RRSP: Pension or RRSP matching available
  • Time Off: All statutory holidays + 1 week of personal/wellness days annually
  • Health & Dental: Comprehensive extended benefits; vision coverage in development
