IMMEDIATE INTERIM OPPORTUNITY

Interim Director of Human resources

Duration: 1 Month

Reports: Deputy Director

Location: Toronto, Ontario (Hybrid)

A prominent International Charity is seeking a highly motivated, visionary, and organized professional to join its senior leadership team as the Director of Human Resources (HRD) to help them cover a sick leave. This pivotal role is instrumental in driving strategic people and culture initiatives while ensuring the smooth and effective operation of HR functions. Working closely with senior leadership, the HRD will contribute to impactful decision-making processes and help shape an inclusive, safe, and empowering workplace. The successful candidate will play a key role in fostering a culture of equity, well-being, and continuous growth for all staff, supporting the organization's mission and long-term strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspires, motivates, coaches, recruits, and manages a dynamic and diverse HR team and sets an example of professional leadership; lives the values of the Employment Philosophy: Humanity, Integrity, and Results.
  • Champions initiatives that ensure staff feel valued, safe, respected, and part of an inclusive work culture.
  • Supports the Management Team and other senior leaders with strategic reporting, analysis of HR trends and HR visioning.
  • Take a lead role in an enterprise-wide project to restructure the organization. This will involve organizational design work and creating the change management plan to support the new structure.
  • Leads the development of proactive and meaningful solutions in organizational development, HR planning, recruitment, and talent management.
  • Coaches/advises MT members on HR matters and supports senior leaders in Organization's career development.
  • As an integral member of the MT, participates in the development and implementation of organization-wide objectives and decisions.
  • Manages HR-related risk with a view to balancing organizational and individual needs.
  • Understands and integrates broad knowledge of HR fundamentals including recruitment, compensation, benefits, talent management, employee relations, human rights, accommodation, and employment legislation.

Qualifications & Education:

  • Been the number one in HR leading a diverse team of HR professionals.
  • Experience in a not-for-profit organization, ideally with an international flavor.
  • Experience with HR management systems and knowledge of emerging best practice in HR.
  • Experience in complex HR environment including multiple staff categories, international processes, security risk exposure, organizational culture change and growth.
  • Have led a SSC in HR.
  • Broad knowledge of HR fundamentals including recruitment, compensation, benefits, talent management, and employee relations, and a good understanding of Canadian or equivalent employment/ legislation.
