Location: Ottawa, ON (Onsite at 1745 Alta Vista Drive)
Contract Length: Mid-June 2025 - April 30, 2030 ( 5 YEAR CONTRACT )
Hour Rate: 105-120/H

Your New Role
As an Application Architect - Cloud Applications, you will be at the forefront of designing and developing advanced cloud-based solutions for a high-profile public sector project. You will lead cross-functional teams, mentor junior developers, and collaborate closely with both client and vendor teams. Your expertise will ensure robust, secure, and scalable application architectures, leveraging best practices and the latest industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead solution development and mentor team members in design patterns and best practices.
- Collaborate with client and vendor teams to deliver integrated solutions.
- Apply security best practices (ISO 26262, IEC 62443, NIST 800-53, ITSG-33) for data protection.
- Prioritize tasks and drive initiatives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Work within export regulations, requiring Canadian citizenship or permanent residency (with select dual nationality eligibility).
What You'll Need to Succeed
Mandatory Requirements:
- Active Canadian Federal Government Security Clearance - Secret.
- 8+ years' experience in application architecture, design, and development, with a strong focus on event-driven architecture.
- Background in the Defence Industry or federal government projects.
- Deep expertise in low-level programming and embedded systems (C/C++, Python, microcontroller programming, device drivers, firmware, bitwise operations, memory management).
- Strong understanding of networking and communications protocols (serial, industrial, avionics, custom binary messaging).
- Experience with real-time and embedded operating systems (e.g., embedded Linux), multi-threaded application debugging, and system architecture for custom applications.
- Proven ability to bridge legacy and modern technologies, with middleware/API gateway/event broker experience.
Nice to Have:
- User interface programming (JavaScript/TypeScript), web frameworks (Angular, React), backend-for-frontend, Node.js.

You must be a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident. If you hold dual or third nationality, it must be from an approved list of allied countries.
