About the Role
On behalf of our client in the Banking industry, Astek Canada is seeking a motivated Cryptography Specialist ready to take on new challenges.
Your Responsibilities
As a Cryptography Specialist, you will be responsible for:
- Perform a lead role in managing the Cryptography team Intake.
- Monitor and triage Intake tickets and provide crypto SME consulting to the requestors.
- Contribute to developing technical and governance documentation for cryptographic projects, including system and process requirements, design specifications, RACI charts, technical guides.
- Work with peer teams to identify and document current state technology capabilities/ecosystem and support stakeholders to design the desired future state.
- Support the development of business cases including RFI/RFP, executing Proof of Concept, and service level agreements with vendors/suppliers consistent with technology requirements/guidelines.
- Translate business requirements into functional cryptographic specifications.
- Document processes and workflows for encryption at rest and encryption in transit.
- Contribute to review and update cybersecurity policies, technology guides, user guides.
- Translate complex technical concepts into easily understandable language for diverse audiences.
- Work closely with cybersecurity engineers, cryptographers, and project managers to collect required information.
- Ensure alignment with organizational security standards and regulatory compliance frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001).
- Collaborate with a team at the forefront of cybersecurity and cryptography innovation.
- Contribute to critical initiatives that safeguard enterprise data and systems using cryptography.
Your Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Communications, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in Cryptography domain in a cybersecurity or technology-focused environment.
Key Skills:
- PKI (Certificate Authority, x509 Digital Certificates, SSH, Microsoft ADCS, TLS ciphers).
- Lifecycle Management for cryptographic keys and digital certificates.
- Cryptographic experience with either: Windows/Unix/Linux Databases (including MS SQL, Oracle, MongoDB) or Storage (SAN, NAS).
- Regulatory compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST, GDPR, PCI DSS)
- Symmetric and asymmetric cryptography.
- Post-Quantum Cryptography and its standardization.
- Cryptographic protection of Data at Rest and Data in Transit.
- Database Transparent Data Encryption (TDE).
- Understanding and navigation of NIST 800-Series Special Publications in respect to cryptography and FIPS 140-3 certification levels for cryptographic modules.
- Ability to translate complex technical details into clear and concise verbiage and documentation.
- General knowledge of Hardware Security Module (HSM) - Thales, Entrust, Utimaco.
- An industry recognizable IS Security certification (e.g. CISSP).
- Experience with Thales Vormetric/CipherTrust Data At Rest Encryption platform is a plus.
