Position: Legal & Contract Operations Associate

Location: Downtown Toronto (Hybrid: 3 days onsite / 2 days remote)

Reports to: Vice President

Department: Escrow & Asset Services

Compensation: Competitive compensation package, including performance-based bonus and benefits

Position Overview:

Our client, a respected provider of shareholder and financial services, is seeking a Legal & Contract Operations Associate to support key transactional and compliance-related activities. This is a hands-on role ideally suited for someone with 3-5 years of experience in legal, financial, or operational roles, who enjoys working with contracts and coordinating post-agreement execution steps.

While prior exposure to securities, transfer agency, or legal administration is helpful, training will be provided to get you up to speed on specific processes, terminology, and systems.

Key Responsibilities:

- Analyze legal agreements (escrow, paying agent, depositary, and recovery-related) and identify operational requirements

- Collaborate with clients, legal counsel, and internal teams to ensure timely execution of all contract-driven deliverables

- Provide administrative and coordination support across multiple client programs and corporate actions

- Monitor tasks, deadlines, and deliverables related to shareholder programs and legal transactions

- Ensure high standards of accuracy, compliance, and documentation in all operational activities

- Maintain internal records, prepare reports, and assist with tax and regulatory filings as needed

- Communicate clearly and professionally with stakeholders, including legal and finance professionals

- Liaise with external intermediaries (e.g., brokers, transfer agents) as required

- Support process improvements, compliance checks, and internal documentation efforts

- Participate in client meetings and assist with follow-up communications and deliverables

What You Bring:

- 3-5 years of experience in a legal, financial operations, or contract administration role

- Strong understanding of contract language and an ability to translate agreements into action steps

- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and follow-through

- Effective communicator with the ability to interface professionally with legal and client teams

- Comfortable balancing competing deadlines and managing task execution independently

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel); database experience is an asset

- Post-secondary education in Business, Legal Studies, Finance, or a related field preferred

- Experience in securities, transfer agency, or corporate governance is a plus but not required
