This opportunity is ideal for an experienced Electrical Engineer with a background in Minerals & Metals who is ready to lead projects and deliver technical solutions that meet and exceed client expectations.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Lead and manage all aspects of electrical design within project teams for successful implementation.
- Perform electrical design and calculations in accordance with Canadian and industrial standards (e.g., API, IEEE, NEC).
- Support proposal preparation, cost estimates, engineering scopes, and construction work packages across project phases (FEED, DBM, Detailed Engineering).
- Conduct power system studies, including load flow, short circuit, protective device coordination, and arc flash analysis.
- Prepare and review technical deliverables such as:
- Hazardous Area Classification drawings
- Single-line diagrams, schematics, and wiring diagrams
- Grounding and lighting layouts, cable/conduit/tray routing, substation layouts, and panel/cable schedules
- Equipment and cable sizing, voltage drop, and lighting calculations
- Develop and review specifications, data sheets, and technical bid evaluations for LV/MV equipment procurement.
- Review Inspection Test Plans and quality check forms, and oversee electrical testing and commissioning activities.
- Respond to site RFIs in compliance with electrical codes and standards.
- Provide technical guidance and act as a project lead when required.
What You'll Need to Be Successful:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the Minerals & Metals sector.
- Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) license in the Province of Ontario.
- Proven experience with LV, MV, and HV power distribution systems in industrial environments.
- In-depth knowledge of electrical area classifications for oil & gas facilities.
- Proficiency in arc flash analysis and protection strategies.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and Plant3D is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of relevant codes and standards (CEC, ISA, NFPA).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Highly analytical with excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently or within a team environment.
