ROLE: Health Safety Specialist (Occupational and Environmental)
REPORTS TO: Environmental & Occupational Health Safety Manager
LOCATION: Delta, BC Full-Time Permanent On-Site in BC with Regional Travel (Occasional travel to Ontario 10%)
We are seeking an experienced EOHS Specialist to join our growing team supporting manufacturing operations across multiple sites in British Columbia and Ontario. This role is critical in advancing our Environmental, Health and Safety systems and compliance frameworks, aligning with our 5-year EOHS strategy and goals for COR (OSSE) certification and ESG integration.
Opportunities
As a key member of the EOHS function, reporting to the EOHS Manager, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining our Safety Management System (SMS) and Environmental Management System (EMS) across high-paced manufacturing environments. You will drive regulatory compliance under WorkSafeBC and Ontario EOHS regulations, while building a proactive safety culture through engagement, leadership coaching, inspections, audits, and investigation.
This is a newly created position with meaningful influence. You will help lead our transition from reactive compliance to proactive prevention-directly shaping safety systems and driving measurable improvement across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute and support our multi-year EOHS strategy across three manufacturing facilities.
- Ensure day-to-day compliance with WorkSafeBC, Ontario EOHS, and environmental permitting regulations.
- Conduct and document site inspections, hazard assessments, and root cause investigations.
- Deliver and support training on JSAs, LOTO, PPE, and regulatory topics.
- Assist with COR/OSSE audit preparation, documentation, and corrective actions.
- Support EMS initiatives, including waste management, emissions, and spill reporting.
- Collaborate with Operations, Quality, Engineering, and People & Culture to embed EOHS best practices.
- Analyze EOHS performance metrics and contribute to ongoing continuous improvement.
Here is who you are
- Experienced: 3-5+ years in an EOHS role within manufacturing or industrial operations.
- Regulatory Expertise: Advanced knowledge of WorkSafeBC EOHSR, Ontario EOHSA, and Environmental Regulations in BC and ON.
- Hands-On: Comfortable working on the production floor, coaching teams, and enforcing standards.
- System-Oriented: Familiar with COR, ISO 14001, or similar SMS/EMS frameworks.
- Influencer: Skilled at promoting buy-in from frontline staff through leadership and engagement.
- Detail-Focused: Adept at managing documentation, audits, and safety system tracking.
Nice-to-Have
- Experience in COR (OSSE) certification readiness.
- Environmental reporting and waste or water discharge permit familiarity.
- ESG reporting, return-to-work (RTW), or industrial hygiene program exposure.
- JSA/SWP development and continuous improvement integration into safety systems.
- Working knowledge of EOHS software platforms and data reporting tools.
Additional Information
- Role requires regular travel between sites in Burnaby, Port Coquitlam and Delta, British Columbia, with potential travel to Guelph, Ontario as needed
- Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to support operations and training.

Detailed Description of Duties:
As the Environmental Health Safety Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting the development and implementation of safety and environmental systems while ensuring day-to-day compliance across manufacturing sites. - Lead site inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
- Ensure compliance with local Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental Regulators and Permit compliance.
- Develop and maintain safety documentation, reports, and training records.
- Deliver and coach frontline safety training, including JSAs and LOTO.
- Contribute to COR (OSSE) certification and environmental reporting.
- Collaborate across departments to integrate EOHS into daily operations.
- Engage workers and support a proactive, inclusive safety culture.
- Track EOHS metrics, support continuous improvement, and align with strategic goals.
