What we're looking for
As the customer obsessed Product Manager leading our geospatial family of products, you will lead the strategic development and lifecycle management of our advanced geospatial visualization and situational awareness software products for defence and aerospace customers. You will own the vision, strategy and roadmaps of your product family, and drive execution and delivery of compelling value to users and customers, ensuring overall success across the entire product portfolio. You represent the needs of our users and customers, internally and externally, as needed.
This is a hybrid position based in our Ottawa, Ontario office.
This position may require domestic and international travel up to 20% of the time, including to defence industry events and exercises.
Duties Include
- Developing, communicating and executing a comprehensive product strategy for Kongsberg Geospatial's real-time geospatial software products, with a focus on defence and mission-critical applications.
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders, defence clients, and end-users to translate operational requirements into product features and roadmaps.
- Driving product development from concept through deployment, ensuring delivery of capabilities aligned with the product value proposition and regulatory constraints (e.g., NATO STANAG standards, ITAR, GC security frameworks).
- Conducting market research and competitive analysis focused on the geospatial, C4ISR, and command-and-control sectors to identify opportunities and inform strategic decisions.
- Leading cross-functional coordination between engineering, UI/UX, program management, and business development teams.
- Defining go-to-market strategies in coordination with sales and marketing to position geospatial software products for military and defence system integrators.
- Supporting bids, proposals, and demonstrations for government and defence contracts.
- Monitoring product performance in operational environments and incorporating customer feedback into future releases.
- Staying abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and technological advancements in the geospatial, C4ISR, and command-and-control sectors.
- Representing Kongsberg Geospatial at key industry conferences and technology showcases to promote product capabilities and gain insights from end-users.
- Identifying and evaluating potential partnership opportunities to enhance product offerings and expand market reach.
- Owning and developing innovative business cases and financial models for new product initiatives.
- Owning the development and monitoring of key performance indicators (KPIs) for the geospatial family of products.
- Contributing to the business, strategic planning and budgeting processes focused on business governance (eg. Quarterly Business Reviews).
You Have
- A Canadian security clearance or eligibility to obtain one.
- A Bachelor's degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Minimum 5 years of product management experience, preferably with geospatial software in the defence, aerospace, or ISR domains.
- Deep understanding of real-time geospatial visualization, mapping engines (e.g., TerraLens, Cesium, Leaflet, OGC standards), and spatial data integration.
- Familiarity with military operational environments, including knowledge of air, land, or maritime C2 systems, and sensor fusion.
- Strong technical fluency and experience working closely with engineering and R&D teams on software products.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interface with defence clients, engineers, and executives.
It Will Be Great If You Have
- Experience working with NATO and Canadian Armed Forces programs, or with allied defence organizations.
- Familiarity with relevant STANAGs, GEOINT, sensor (eg. AIS/ADS-B) , or tactical data link standards (eg. Link 16, CoT).
- Knowledge of AI/ML applications in geospatial intelligence and decision support.
- An understanding of DevSecOps principles, airworthiness certification, or mission assurance frameworks.
