About TuxMat

TuxMat is a high-growth, high-performance company revolutionizing the premium automotive accessories market. As we scale rapidly and onshore our production, we are hiring our first HR leader to build and lead the Human Resources function from the ground up.

Role Overview

The Director of Human Resources will be responsible for designing and executing the HR infrastructure at TuxMat. This role requires a hands-on leader who can operate in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment, driving talent acquisition, performance management, employee engagement, and compliance while supporting the company's ongoing expansion.

This is not a corporate HR role-it requires someone who can build HR systems, policies, and culture from scratch in a rapidly growing company where expectations are high and execution speed matters.

Key Responsibilities

Build & Lead the HR Function

  • Establish TuxMat's first-ever HR department, creating frameworks for recruitment, employee relations, and compliance.
  • Develop and implement policies, processes, and structures that support scale and high performance.
  • Act as the go-to HR leader, providing hands-on support while developing long-term HR strategies.

Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning

  • Own end-to-end recruitment, building a hiring process that attracts and retains top talent across corporate and production roles.
  • Implement workforce planning strategies to meet the needs of a rapidly scaling organization.
  • Develop strong employer branding to position TuxMat as an industry leader in attracting talent.

Performance Management & Culture

  • Create a high-performance, results-driven culture aligned with TuxMat's fast-paced work environment.
  • Establish a performance management system that drives accountability, efficiency, and growth.
  • Design and roll out training programs that equip employees with the skills needed for the company's evolving needs.

Employee Relations & Engagement

  • Foster a resilient and high-energy workplace culture where people thrive under pressure.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to leadership and employees on HR-related challenges, conflict resolution, and engagement strategies.
  • Implement strategies to improve retention, morale, and leadership development.

Compliance, Compensation & Benefits

  • Develop and maintain HR policies in compliance with Ontario employment laws and workplace safety regulations.
  • Establish a competitive compensation and benefits framework that aligns with business growth.
  • Ensure HR operations are efficient and scalable, supporting the company's high-growth trajectory.

Who You Are

  • Proven builder-you have built or scaled an HR function from scratch in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • 10+ years of progressive HR experience, ideally in manufacturing, automotive, or high-growth companies.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and adapt quickly to an ever-changing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, compensation structures, and performance management.
  • Hands-on leader-willing to roll up your sleeves and execute, not just strategize.
  • Direct, no-nonsense approach to problem-solving with a bias for action.
  • HR certification (e.g., CHRL, CHRP) is an asset but not required.

Why Join TuxMat?

  • First HR hire-an opportunity to build and shape HR from the ground up.
  • Work in a high-energy, results-driven environment with a team that moves fast.
  • Competitive compensation and benefits.
  • Be part of a company that is scaling rapidly and expanding production in Canada.
