Senior Performance Engineer

Apex Systems is a global IT services provider, and our staffing practice has an opening for an Operational Readiness Test Engineer with extensive SRE, Performance and Quality Engineering experience, and strong ServiceNow knowledge to place at our client, an industry leading technology company.

  • Client: A Fortune 100 Technology Company
  • Terms: 8-month contract.
  • Location: Downtown Toronto - Hybrid work environment

Job Description:

  • Write clear, traceable manual test cases and breakage/chaos scenarios that satisfy Payment Platform's 450+ NFRs for Operational Readiness Testing.
  • Test cases will be the authoritative source that later could be converted into test scripts; they must align with ORT Test areas, including TRP, HA, ITSM/ITOM, Business Support, BAM, and Observability.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Author test cases in the program's testing template per identified flow and technical layer.
  • Derive acceptance criteria from NFRs (i.e.: latency, MTTA, DR, security) and map each to the corresponding Observability & ITOM alert.
  • Peer-review ServiceNow Flows and CI scan output to ensure the CIs referenced in CSDM, CMDB data align with the environment.
  • Maintain the traceability matrix that links Application Test Scenario, ORT Test phase, NFR.
  • Coordinate with Observability & ITOM engineers to confirm required metrics and events exist before a test is declared ready.

Key Qualifications:

  • Proven experience writing system-integration or SRE readiness test cases for distributed, containerized platforms.
  • Solid grasp of fail-over concepts: node reboot, pod recycle, cluster namespaces, HA sites.
  • Working knowledge of OpenShift/Kubernetes including micro-services, containerized deployments, and REST messaging.
  • Able to read Dynatrace dashboards, Splunk searches and ServiceNow Event timelines to confirm observable outcomes.
  • Proficient in Jira and Confluence for test-case management and defect logging.
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow Flow to validate ITSM/ITOM alignment.
  • Strong documentation skills-can express complex scenarios in concise, unambiguous steps for both manual execution and future automation.
  • Must be proficient in English with strong communication skills to effectively respond to comments and feedback from technical, application and business stakeholders without ambiguity.
  • Payments or banking domain.
  • Experience with chaos-engineering tools.
