Position: Information Security Specialist

About the Role:
Our client, a well-established organization, is looking for an experienced IT professional to support and enhance their overall security efforts. This role involves a broad range of responsibilities aimed at strengthening the organization's security posture through proactive risk management and support of security-related systems and practices. The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical foundation and a background that includes both infrastructure and security experience, with the ability to operate effectively in a dynamic, hands-on environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support and coordinate various aspects of the organization's security program, including identifying and addressing potential risks.
- Monitor and assess alerts across multiple tools and platforms, ensuring timely follow-up with internal teams and external partners.
- Contribute to incident response efforts, including issue investigation and resolution planning.
- Collaborate with external service providers to support security operations and monitoring.
- Assist in the evaluation of new technologies and solutions from a security perspective.
- Support compliance efforts by aligning with internal standards and recognized best practices.
- Participate in continuity and recovery planning activities.
- Help maintain and improve key security controls, including system protection and update practices.
- Contribute to regular reporting and help inform security-related planning and decision-making.
- Maintain documentation and support ongoing process improvements.
About You:
- Background in IT or a related field, supported by relevant education or equivalent experience.
- Several years of experience in a technical role involving security and infrastructure.
- Familiarity with widely used platforms and technologies, including Microsoft, virtualization tools, and network systems.
- Comfortable working in hybrid environments with both cloud and on-premises systems.
- Knowledge of security tools and best practices across various areas such as endpoint protection and email filtering.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Experience supporting compliance initiatives or working within regulated sectors is a plus.
- Security-related certifications are an asset but not required.
- Detail-oriented and self-motivated, with the ability to manage shifting priorities effectively.
