One of our clients, a major oil and gas company, has tasked us with finding a highly skilled and experienced Buyer IV to join their Supply Chain team. This role will be critical in ensuring the efficient execution of Purchase Orders (POs) while collaborating closely with Supply Chain Business Teams to meet operational and strategic objectives. The ideal candidate will bring deep procurement expertise, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to manage complex supplier relationships in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Procurement Execution: Independently manage complex procurement activities, ensuring materials/services are acquired accurately and timely to meet business needs.
  • Contract Formation & Negotiation: Lead sourcing, bid evaluation (RFx), contract negotiation, and award processes while mitigating risks and optimizing terms.
  • Supplier & Stakeholder Management: Maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and internal stakeholders, ensuring alignment with business goals.
  • Post-Award Administration: Oversee PO management, invoice attestation, change orders, and contract close-out while ensuring compliance with SOX/audit requirements.
  • Process Improvement: Identify cost-saving opportunities, drive efficiencies, and recommend enhancements to procurement policies and systems (e.g., Oracle Cloud).
  • Compliance & Training: Ensure adherence to company policies, provide guidance to junior team members, and support enterprise-wide Supply Chain Management (SCM) initiatives.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: University degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, or related field. SCMP/CPSM designation is a plus.
  • Experience: 7+ years in procurement/supply chain, preferably in oil & gas, with expertise in contract management and strategic sourcing.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Oracle/SAP, MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint), and procurement best practices.
  • Soft Skills: Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills; ability to influence stakeholders and work independently.

Preferred Skills:

  • Advanced cost modeling, category management, and project facilitation experience.
  • Knowledge of SOX compliance and industry procurement trends.
  • Oracle Cloud proficiency is highly desirable.

Work Details:

  • Location: Calgary or Edmonton, AB; or North York or Chatham, ON.
  • Hybrid Work Model: On-site 3 days/week (Mon, Tue, Thu).
  • Duration: 1-year contract (potential for extension).
