POSITION DESCRIPTION:

A rare opportunity has become available at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital. We are seeking an experienced Manager of Pharmacy to lead and oversee the daily operations of our pharmacy. This key leadership role is responsible for ensuring the safe, effective, and compliant delivery of pharmaceutical care across all hospital units, while promoting a culture of clinical excellence and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in pharmacy management, proven leadership skills, and a commitment to advancing patient outcomes through collaborative and innovative practices.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

Reporting to the Vice President, Patient Service and CNE, the Pharmacy Manager is responsible for ensuring improvement and excellence within the department(s). This includes the achievement of strategic goals and objectives by providing guidance, direction and support, in keeping with STEGH's mission, vision and values. Responsible for supervising staff and administering HR processes and protocols as well as guiding day-to-day departmental work, demonstrating accountability and commitment to developing a work environment that exemplifies inter-professional and ethical practice professional autonomous decision-making empowerment, integrative thinking and problem solving. This is achieved by applying evidence-based leadership practices and lean improvement methodology and by working collaboratively with the senior leadership and their management colleagues to ensure operational efficiencies of the department(s), ultimately allowing the organization to accomplish its goal of providing an excellent patient care experience every time.

WHAT YOU MUST HAVE:

At least 5 - 7 years of Management experience in a 24/7 health care setting.
Pharm D degree or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy, along with current registration with the Ontario College of Pharmacists in good standing
Proven assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation skills related to leading a clinical team
Ability to assess, adapt, communicate and respond effectively within a constantly changing environment
Proven strategic resourcefulness and proper communication when faced with drug shortages
Working knowledge and understanding of the following (but not limited to): Ontario College of Pharmacists, Public Hospital Act, Cancer Care Ontario, Drug and Pharmacies Act, Controlled Drug and Substances Act, Food and Drugs Act
Experience with automated pharmaceutical dispensing and packaging equipment
Demonstrated commitment to ongoing/continuous professional development
Proven ability to work independently, utilizing critical thinking skillset
Demonstrated acceptable performance record

WHAT WE PREFER YOU TO HAVE:

Demonstrated experience in implementing new programs and policies
Experience working with Accreditation Canada
Capital management experience
