Webuild has won a new contract to deliver the Pape Tunnel and Underground Stations section of the Ontario Line and we are currently seeking a Human Resources Generalist

This position is a full-time 100% onsite position at our downtown office.

The Role

The role of the HR Generalist is focused upon proposing and implementing processes to create efficiencies, improve, and streamline the HR department. The HR Generalist is responsible for ensuring all administrative duties related to Human Resources are updated and completed in a timely manner. This role will require a high level of detail and confidentially. The HR Generalist will be responsible for managing all employee files, supporting with HR communications, employee relations matters, involved in union relationships, auditing current HR practices, develop and implement new HR policies and procedures as well as supporting the HR Manager.

Success

The HR Generalist is a highly organized professional who has strong capabilities in Microsoft Excel and Word and has had proven success in a Generalist or Coordinator capacity. The successful candidate will think efficiently while not giving up any quality or experience while creating leaner processes and "A" systems. As an effective executor of HR responsibilities and having a strong ability to follow through on projects nothing escapes this individual focus. This role demands a strong customer service mindset. The HR Generalist will be a research-focused individual, who can target areas of operational need, compliance, and provide innovative ideas for improving the way the HR department operates.

Responsibilities Include:

Recruitment

  • Manage and track employee referral program
  • Review staffing plan with the hiring managers on a regular basis

Onboarding:

  • Prepare and lead new hire orientations
  • Guide new hires through the completion of necessary paperwork
  • Ensure all required documentation is collected and filed appropriately.

HR Administration and Record Keeping:

  • Utilize available resources to maintain employee records.
  • Prepare, analyze, and distribute reports as needed
  • Manage master staffing list and CSL in communication with the client

HR Communication:

  • Review and create various employee communications and letters.
  • Support Directors and Managers with efficient problem-solving when any human resources issues arise and assist in addressing HR-related queries.
  • Review Employee communications and letters including but not limited to LOA letters, Accommodation Letters, Performance Management & Warning Letters.
  • Create employee communications and letters where a template does not exist or in unquie situations.
  • Create Payroll related Letters, and AD hoc communications as required.
  • Support and attend employee meetings when required and requested as it relates to: Change Management, new policies, announcements, and culture.

Policy Development and Compliance:

  • Support with writing and reviewing employee policies.
  • Continually audit HR processes and update documents as the needs of the business change.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge and ensure legal compliance with all applicable employment laws and regulations.
  • Monitor changes in regulations and update policies accordingly.

Culture

  • Integrate project values into HR practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Reinforce cultural values during onboarding and employee training programs.
  • Train employees on the project values
  • Generate and execute idea's for employee wellness program

Talent management

  • Implement bi-annual talent management process
  • Follow up on talent scorecards and summarize the results
  • Follow up on scorecard action items

Reports & Metrics

  • Prepare, analyze and distribute reports as needed
  • Identify, track and report on HR metrics, KPIs, and scorecards
  • Participate in the development of training for staff
  • Coordinate employee surveys and give actionable insights; for example, annual employee engagement survey, salary benchmarks
  • Support HR manager in annual salary review process with providing reports and

Training Development

  • Schedule required trainings and tracking of trainings
  • Coordinate external trainings as needed

Other

  • Support and attend employee meetings when required and requested as it relates to: Change Management, new policies, announcements, and culture.
  • Work closely with the HR Manager on HR related projects
  • Continually audit HR processes and updating documents as the needs of the business change
  • Work on projects to automate HR practices
  • Other relevant duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A degree or diploma in Human Resources Management
  • CHRP, or in process of obtaining certification
  • Minimum of 6+ years' experience in the field of Human Resources, preferably working in a HR Generalist or HRBP role
  • Experience working in similar industry is highly advantageous
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in unionized working environments
  • Proven knowledge in dealing with employee relations matters
  • Proven knowledge of the Ontario Laws, (ESA, OHRC, OHSA)
  • Construction / Engineering working environment experience is preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills, and attention to detail
  • Advanced Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word skills.
  • The ability to be flexible and feel comfortable in several different situations
  • Experience being able to multi-task and prioritize competing demands.
  • Ability to handle a fast-paced environment and works well under tight deadlines and pressure.
  • A dynamic individual with a natural drive to achieve goals, who is very focused on supporting and growing the business.
