The Opportunity:
Our client is one of the largest and fastest-growing propane distribution companies in Canada. They are a fast-moving, customer-facing, field-based business operating coast to coast, with over 400 team members. They strive to be the undisputed propane leader in North America.
We are currently supporting them with their search for a highly skilled and motivated Senior IT Director to oversee and manage the IT infrastructure, systems, and support functions of their business. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in aligning technology solutions with business goals, managing a team of IT professionals, and ensuring the secure and efficient operation of all IT systems.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Lead the IT team in the implementation, maintenance, and support of business technology systems.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies and software to enhance business operations.
- Assist (roll up sleeves) in the stabilization and enhancement of our clients newer (less than 1 year) suite of applications that underpin their business operations.
- Manage vendor relationships, service contracts, and software licenses, and ensure that all are "fit for purpose".
- Manage network infrastructure, cloud environments, and on-premise systems to ensure high availability and performance.
- Oversee cybersecurity initiatives, risk assessments, and data protection protocols.
- Develop and maintain IT policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Coordinate IT projects across departments, ensuring they meet scope, timeline, and budget.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to team members and end-users.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
What You'll Need To Be Successful:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in IT, with at least 5 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of network architecture, cloud computing (AWS, Azure, or GCP), and enterprise software.
- Experience with cybersecurity principles, firewalls, antivirus software, and data backup/recovery.
- Experience with ERP or CRM systems.
- Excellent problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA, Cisco, Microsoft, PMP) are a plus.
