About Talin:

Talin is a Toronto-based tech startup building AI-enabled applications for staffing and recruiting automation. Having recently closed our first round of funding, and crossed some significant revenue milestones, we're expanding our sales team to drive the company's next phase of growth.

About this role:

We're seeking a driven Business Development Representative (BDR) who loves connecting with people and thrives on outbound prospecting. You'll play a vital role in growing our pipeline while learning rapidly, working hard, and celebrating successes along the way.

Your focus will be reaching out to new prospects through multiple channels, setting up meetings, and collaborating with the sales team to convert opportunities into business.

You'll receive comprehensive support while maintaining the autonomy to own your work and directly impact our growth.

It is likely that the majority of quota here could be filled with inbound meetings, though we're also eager to unlock cold calling as a new channel for us. Expect a mix of cold calling, prospecting with research, and handling inbound leads.

Who will excel in this role:

  • Someone comfortable picking up the phone and connecting with new people
  • Product driven & solutions oriented; your mindset is to solve problems, not to simply sell
  • Curious and eager to learn about AI and implement more of it into your workflow
  • Comfortable with rejection and naturally resilient
  • Understands how start ups work and how to do well in this environment
  • Comfortable with ambiguity - you either know what to do next, or are actively figuring it out

Some of the things you'll be doing:

  • Actively prospecting potential customers via phone, email, and social channels
  • Qualifying inbound leads and scheduling meetings for the sales team
  • Engaging prospects on free trial to move them down the funnel
  • Collaborating closely with the CEO and customer success teams
  • Learn from a growth minded team that embraces automation and moving fast
  • Quota carrying on number of meetings booked / week
  • Closing smaller deals sizes, opportunity to manage deals from end to end

What we need to see (must haves):

  • 1+ year in a sales, business development, or outbound prospecting role
  • Some start up experience
  • Strong phone skills (you don't need to be Chris Voss, but confident and well spoken)
  • Product focused with a solutions oriented philosophy

What we're offering:

  • Toronto-based (Hybrid, in-office 3 days per week) at our Yonge-Dundas office - please do not apply if you're looking for remote only.
  • Base salary range of $50-60k, with $80-90k OTE including commission
  • Equity package
