WJ is currently looking for their next Marketing Strategist to join their Strategy Group. At WJ, the Marketing Strategist uses marketing research and quantitative & qualitative analysis to uncover insights, plan and execute marketing strategies for their clients. The Marketing Strategist supports this function
by using a variety of primary and secondary research tools and practices that yield timeless insights to spark creative solutions. Under the guidance of the Strategy Director, the Marketing Strategist will prepare insights reports, develop brands, create campaign strategies, assist with the development of media plans, as well as perform ongoing analysis and optimization recommendations to ensure their clients' continuous success.

As a Marketing Strategist, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
Developing a deep understanding of clients' businesses, goals and objectives through in-depth quantitative and qualitative research
Understanding client needs and provide strategic recommendations and advisory support
Writing formal marketing research documents, plans, and brand strategies for clients
Creating strategic direction for clients' marketing plans, always grounded on research
Helping clients devise strategies to increase sales and market share, determining key metrics and providing ongoing support to achieve those metrics
Determining how all facets of clients marketing must be changed to align with strategic direction
Using research of the external environment (including competition) to provide further focus for strategic direction of client
Developing strong brand concepts that are authentic, differentiating, and compelling
Using creative language to help craft brands that are poignant, unique, and expressive
Performing industry analysis, competitor analysis, and target audience research to ensure solutions are always human-centric
Determining a ideal target audiences and persona segmentation
Reviewing project initiatives and measuring progress against goals
Ensuring that all reports are well-written, tactful, and succinct
Communicating efficiently and effectively with the rest of the team
Managing multiple projects and delivering on tight timelines, often working around strict and sometimes sudden deadlines
Maintaining a positive attitude during periods of heavy workload
Demonstrating high attention to detail in their work
Acting as a company advocate that embodies WJ's values (i.e. being always curious, leading with authenticity, projecting a welcoming presence, providing mindful service, and keeping the big picture in mind)

Qualifications
A minimum of an undergraduate degree in business, journalism, philosophy, or English is required as strategy entails connecting the dots between theory and applicability.
Four years of experience in client-side marketing or agency-side advertising is required
Agency experience considered an asset
