Position Title: Cyber Security Specialist

Location: Regina, SK

Overview:

Charter is currently seeking an experienced Cyber Security Specialist to join our team starting June 2025. This role is responsible for implementing and monitoring advanced security controls across on prem and cloud environments. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in IT security or Cybersecurity operations including security monitoring and incident response. Previous experience configuring and utilizing cloud and enterprise security technologies (i.e., Azure, MS defender suite, SIEM, Tenable One) is required. Experience in industry cybersecurity frameworks and standards (i.e., NIST Cybersecurity Framework, ISO/IEC 27001/27002, and relevant CSA security standards) is required. Location: Regina, SK (Onsite). Term: One (1) Year. Strong possibility of extension.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in IT security or cybersecurity operations, including security monitoring and incident response.
  • Previous experience configuring and utilizing cloud and enterprise security technologies (i.e., Azure, MS defender suite, SIEM) for threat detection, analysis, and automated response.
  • Experience in PowerShell, JSON, Kusto Query (KQL), Logic Apps, or a similar language.
  • Strong experience in industry cybersecurity frameworks and standards (i.e., NIST Cybersecurity Framework, ISO/IEC 27001/27002, and relevant CSA security standards).
  • Experience in incident response methodologies and best practices for handling and managing cybersecurity incidents.
  • Experience assessing complex systems for security risks, analyzing system logs, alerts, and forensic data across various sources (network, endpoint, cloud) to identify and resolve security issues.
  • Experience working in highly regulated or critical infrastructure environments (energy utilities, nuclear industry, etc.) is an asset.
  • Experience in the unique cybersecurity challenges and regulatory requirements of industrial or power systems (i.e., SCADA/ICS environments) is an asset.
  • Education: University degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Security or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience in cybersecurity.
  • Active industry certifications, i.e., CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), CISM (Certified Information Security Manager), GIAC certifications (SANS Institute), Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate is an asset.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) in English is required.
  • Must be authorized to work in Canada.
