Data Analyst (Junior)

Apex Systems is a large staffing and consulting firm and we are looking for an Data Analyst to place at our client, a Big Five Bank. You will be joining the Retail Banking Line of Business.

Client: Big Five Bank

Contract: 1 Year contract. Strong possibility of extension.

Location: 2 days out of downtown Toronto. At least 1 day between Wednesday and Thursday

Working Hours: 37.5 hours /week

Project: This is BAU work for the time being. Increased workload.

Role Mandate:

Accountable to provide administrative support to the team by supporting daily intake assignments, daily/monthly intake reporting, and some basic querying using SQL and SAS. The intakes are related to the Banks Canadian Sales Performance (Mortgage) processes and reporting. The daily nature of this work requires a high level of punctuality and reliability, as well as a basic understanding of SharePoint, Outlook, Excel, and SQL and SAS (certificates are a plus). Prior sales performance experience is also a plus.

Role Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):

  • Compiling and emailing daily stats related to intakes
  • Attending weekly meetings
  • Assisting the Senior Manager with ad-hoc requests
  • Analyzing root causes of issues to assist leaders in enhancing the overall system
  • Reviewing/analyzing data from multiple sources in order to assist with closing investigations within SLA
  • Identify/refer cases to the developers/team lead when require with supporting details for further review
  • Team player
  • You will help triage an inbox as well as help enhance existing metrics for further business insights of performance.

Must-Have Skills:

  • 1-2 years of similar experience - note that this does not need to be in the banking field
  • Strong MS Office skills- Word, Outlook,
  • SQL and SAS knowledge - the ability to interpret and understand SQL queries
  • Comfortable with learning new processes
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Experience in sales performance reporting
  • Banking

Educational Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in statistics, math or computer science highly preferred - this can ensure candidates have the basic understanding of SQL and SAS, even without considerable years of experience in the field.
