Our client just East of London, Ontario is looking to add a Strategic Salesperson to their team.

The incumbent will be responsible for marketing, promoting and profitably selling products and services to existing and potential new customers in accordance with the customer's requirements.

Sales personnel represent our client in issues involving the company's suppliers and the purchase of products from those suppliers. Involved in sourcing new products and negotiating pricing with suppliers. Reports to the Director of Strategic Sales Team, Director of New Business Development, Operations Manager.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Sales personnel are involved in all aspects of the sales of products which include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Establish contacts with existing customers, identify new opportunities and follow up on potential leads.
  1. Responsible for Market sourcing of customer RFQ's and realization to final company customer quote via application of all company internal process and calculation method.
  1. Manage customer account activities and communication through direct customer interface (on-site), on-line supplier portal (when required) or other means, as applicable (phone, email, etc.).
  1. Utilize all available resources to reach out to prospects and turn those prospects into customers. Identify and research potential customers and generate new business opportunities for the company.
  1. Monitor industry trends to identify emerging markets and work with management to develop plans to successfully enter those markets.
  1. Collaborate with the management team to develop and improve marketing materials to expand the company's presence in their intended market.
  1. If required, attend industry trade shows to develop new leads and maintain productive contact with existing customers.
  1. Source product based on information received from our client's Strategic Sales Team which can include but is not limited to the customer's request for quotation, the customer's requirement portfolio and verbal communication of information from the Strategic Sales Team.
  1. Expanding product knowledge to assist in negotiating reasonable pricing, suggest cost-saving ideas to customers and suppliers and to have a better understanding of the product being purchased.
  1. Issuing Special Notice Forms to advise all Departments of new product being purchased or of changes to the requirements or purchasing of current product. To help with the monitoring of the control of such products to ensure that all Departments have the requirements to handle the product in accordance with the Purchasing Department's intent.
  1. Working with suppliers to determine "break point" scheduling according to information from the Sales Department and customer. Working with suppliers to reduce the amount of obsolete stock during engineering changes or part cancellations. Issuing Special Notice Forms when engineering changes take place to inform all personnel.
  1. Work with Purchasing to disposition dead stock.
  1. Expand knowledge of the company's subcontractors which may include, but is not limited to, visiting the subcontractor, reading literature on the subcontractor or communication with the subcontractor on a wide range of issues. Initiate cost-down projects with subcontractors.
  1. Ensure good communication within all Departments within company. To work with each Department to ensure the flow of information between Departments is smooth and consistent.
  1. Furnish appropriate data for successful APQP activity for product launch.
  1. Travel as required to achieve all sales department objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field. Additional education or experience, particularly related to Sales.

Have a strong understanding of computers and how they are utilized in a Sales environment;

Be capable of working on one's own to achieve Sales, Divisional and Corporate goals in a timely and efficient manner;

Have command of all documented policies and procedures, particularly those that relate directly to the Strategic Sales Team;

Have the ability to effectively coordinate many different tasks simultaneously while maintaining conformance to the quality system;

Possess excellent communication skills, written and oral;

Have the ability to continuously expand one's knowledge to understand/accept and pursue new procedures, practices, and policies to meet the changing needs/expectations of the industry and/or customer.

Have 1 or more years of experience in the Automotive Industry, knowing and understanding basic industry standards and expectations.
