Swoon is hiring a Senior Manager, Applications for a large home services client!

Job Title: IT Manager - Application Support, Development & Business Systems

Role: Full time permanent

Hybrid: Toronto office (4 days per week in office)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Strategy
  • Lead and manage a team of IT professionals in business analysis, systems analysis, application configuration, and software development.
  • Define a framework for delivering solutions, including resourcing, development standards, and business analysis practices.
  • Oversee the application life cycle, providing input on technology investments, upgrades, and retirements.
  • Collaborate with other IT managers to ensure strategic process alignment and interoperability across the organization.
  • Project & Resource Management
  • Plan, negotiate, and manage IT project requirements, including budgets, timelines, and resource allocation.
  • Assign internal staff and external resources to projects, balancing organizational needs with individual development goals.
  • Monitor team capacity and adjust resources to meet project demands.
  • Recruit and staff permanent roles, partnering with HR and external agencies as needed.
  • Operations & Delivery
  • Provide administrative oversight for daily IT operations within the department.
  • Ensure effective communication and coordination with other IT groups to deliver required environments, implement solutions, and support installed applications.
  • Enforce adherence to defined escalation and problem-resolution procedures.
  • People Development
  • Identify individual and team development needs; create opportunities to support career growth and skill development.

Qualifications:

  • University degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent of 10+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Extensive experience in application support and IT systems development.
  • Strong understanding of organizational goals, human resources management, and project management principles.
  • Proven leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills (both written and oral).
  • Ability to research IT trends and solutions, and present recommendations in business-friendly terms.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; attention to detail.
  • Highly self-motivated, organized, and able to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional customer service orientation and a collaborative mindset.
  • Familiarity with IFS or other Field Service Management software is a plus.
