About the Opportunity

Our client, a well-established and forward-thinking leader in the construction and development sector, is seeking a proactive Health and Safety Manager to oversee and continuously improve health and safety initiatives across multiple projects. This organization has built a reputation for delivering complex, large-scale developments while upholding the highest safety standards.

The ideal candidate will bring a strategic mindset, extensive experience in high-rise and large-scale construction environments, and the ability to foster a culture of safety excellence from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of the company's health and safety policies, ensuring full compliance with all relevant legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular site audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to employees, contractors, and subcontractors to reinforce safety best practices and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with project managers, site supervisors, and external stakeholders to integrate safety initiatives into day-to-day operations.
  • Monitor incident reports, investigate workplace accidents, and recommend improvements to prevent reoccurrences.
  • Stay informed of emerging health and safety trends, legislative updates, and industry best practices, ensuring continuous improvement of safety programs.
  • Prepare and present safety performance reports and metrics to senior leadership.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in a health and safety leadership role within the construction industry, with a focus on mid- to high-rise projects.
  • Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., CRSP, CHSO, or equivalent).
  • In-depth knowledge of Ontario's health and safety regulations, codes, and standards.
  • Proven ability to develop and deliver safety training programs across all organizational levels.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage, motivate, and influence team members.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills with a proactive and hands-on approach.
  • Valid Ontario driver's license and willingness to travel to multiple job sites as required.
