The HR Assistant is responsible for supporting the HR team with day-to-day administrative tasks, employee inquiries, reports amongst other functions. This person is a fully qualified HR professional and possesses the ability and confidence to apply HR practices in a work setting.
Role and General Responsibilities
- Handle all administrative tasks for onboarding, new hire orientation, and exit interviews, including entering data into HR database and auditing for accuracy and compliance.
- Responsible for tracking and keeping up to date employee information, probationary period reviews, as well as notifying respective company of any changes to their staff information.
- Keeping track of signed documentation and expense reports through DocuSign and HR email.
- Following up on expiring Work-Permits and supporting documentation.
- Providing staff with confirmation of employment letters, probationary pass letters, and other support letters as needed.
- Tracking vacation/sick time off, unused vacation hours, benefit changes, and extended leave requests.
- Work on ad-hoc reports as needed.
- Assist in the communication and interpretation of HR Policies
- Support HR team with updating staffing plan and organizational charts.
- Participate in and lead project initiatives related to employee engagement and retention programs.
- Maintain relationships with employees and managers.
- Maintain communication with the Human Resources departments from the respective JV Partners.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business, or a related field.
- Additional HR training or experience is a plus.
- A minimum of 1-2 years of relevant experience required.
- Knowledge of ESA, Human Rights Legislation, Labor Relations, OSHA, is required.
- Knowledge of the Construction industry is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, and ethics.
- Resourceful, problem-solving attitude and thorough knowledge of HR procedures and policies.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office including Excel, HRIS systems.
- Able to adapt quickly using new technical systems as needed.

- Communication skills both written and oral as role has considerable writing through email communication, drafting of documentation, and in-person meetings.
- Self-starter: takes initiative to continuously learn and provide support where needed.
- Must possess and demonstrate excellent computer skills; highly proficient in Microsoft Office software i.e.; Word, Outlook, and Excel
- Knowledge of employment legislation and how to best apply it in different circumstances.

Location
This role is based on the Hurontario LRT Project with the head office at Mississauga, located at 110 Matheson Blvd., East.
