Chef de Cuisine - Montreal

Our client located in Montreal, is a distinguished French restaurant known for its refined cuisine, elegant ambiance, and commitment to culinary excellence. Rooted in the traditions of classic French gastronomy, yet embracing modern interpretation, their kitchen is dedicated to delivering an exceptional dining experience. Our client is currently seeking an experienced Chef de Cuisine to lead their culinary team and bring inspired leadership to their kitchen operations.

Position Overview:

The Chef de Cuisine will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the kitchen, including menu development, staff leadership, and quality control. This individual will bring deep knowledge of French cuisine-from traditional sauces and techniques to contemporary plating-and will ensure precision, consistency, and innovation in every dish.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the kitchen in daily operations, ensuring excellence in preparation and execution
  • Develop and update menus that reflect the essence of French cuisine, seasonality, and creativity
  • Uphold classic French culinary techniques and standards across all menu offerings
  • Train, mentor, and manage a team of 20 individuals
  • Maintain strict health, hygiene, and safety standards in compliance with local regulations
  • Monitor inventory, control food and labor costs, and manage supplier relationships
  • Work closely with the front-of-house team to ensure smooth and elevated guest service
  • Inspire a culture of discipline, respect, and culinary passion within the team

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years experience as a Sous Chef and ready for the role of Chef de Cuisine or 2-3 years as a confirmed Chef de Cuisine
  • Expert knowledge of classical and modern French culinary techniques
  • Must be bilingual in French and English
  • Hold computer skills and able to handle the following systems: OpenTable, Restock, 7 shifts, Velos and Microsoft word
  • Strong leadership and team development skills
  • Proven ability to manage high standards of quality in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities
