Our client, a reputable law firm in downtown Toronto is seeking a Senior Litigation Legal Assistant to join their team!
Responsibilities
- Preparing and formatting legal documents in accordance with the Rules of Civil Procedure, including pleadings, motions, affidavits, discovery documents, and correspondence
- Managing and organizing case files, both electronic and physical, including diarizing deadlines, court dates, and limitation periods using case management systems
- Assisting with trial and hearing preparation, including preparing and organizing exhibits, witness statements, document briefs, and trial binders
- Coordinating and scheduling discoveries, mediations, client meetings, court appearances, and expert consultations
- Conducting basic legal and factual research and summarizing findings for review by counsel
- Liaising professionally with clients, opposing counsel, court offices, and other third parties involved in the litigation process
Qualifications
- 5+ years of legal assistant experience in civil litigation in an Ontario law firm setting
- Strong understanding of Ontario's Rules of Civil Procedure and court systems
- Proficiency with legal software
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
- Exceptional organizational and time-management skills
- Legal Assistant diploma or equivalent education preferred
