Job Title: SharePoint Analyst

Location: Primarily Remote (within Canada)

Client: Government of Alberta

Work Hours: 08:15 - 16:30 Alberta Time, Monday to Friday

Anticipated Interview Dates: May 8-9, 2025

Contract Term: Up to 12 Months (with potential extension)

Clearance: Standard Criminal Record Check Required

Note: This resource will primarily work remotely; however, the resource may be required to attend meetings or work sessions in office on reasonable notice from the Province. At the time of providing such notice, the Province will advise of the expected duration of any such meetings or work sessions. However, time to travel and any associated expenses to and from Edmonton and/or travel within Alberta will be at no cost to the Province.

Position Summary:

The Government of Alberta is undertaking a major modernization of intranet platforms across its ministries, transitioning from SharePoint 2016 to SharePoint Online. Reporting to the Manager of Content and Collaboration Services (CCS), the SharePoint Analyst will be instrumental in designing, migrating, and optimizing content and user experiences on the modern SharePoint Online intranet.

This is a net new role focused on planning, design, testing, implementation, and migration tasks associated with SharePoint Online and related M365 services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gather user requirements and effectively communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Migrate content from legacy intranet sites to modern SharePoint Online pages.
  • Design and build responsive, accessible, and visually appealing Intranet pages.
  • Customize SharePoint components: web parts, lists, libraries, and workflows.
  • Create custom themes, templates, and branding in alignment with GoA guidelines.
  • Optimize site navigation and usability for end users.
  • Develop and support content workflows and publishing automation.
  • Deliver business analysis and design support for SharePoint-based solutions.
  • Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 SharePoint support and troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Document technical processes, user guides, and training materials.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with teams for requirements and enhancements.
  • Stay up to date on SharePoint trends and evaluate new tools for adoption.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

  • Must meet or exceed one of the following: diploma, degree, or certifications in IT, UX/UI design, or related fields.

Experience (Must-Have):

  • 2+ years as a Site Collection Administrator.
  • 2+ years troubleshooting forms and workflows (all types).
  • 2+ years using and supporting ShareGate.
  • 2+ years working with Microsoft SharePoint (2016/Online).
  • 2+ years in SharePoint development, integration, and support.

Experience (Nice-to-Have):

  • 2+ years developing integrated system and technical design specifications.
  • 2+ years using PowerShell for SharePoint Farm/Site management.
  • 2+ years using the M365 SharePoint Online admin portal.
  • 2+ years using Central Administration in SharePoint environments.
  • 1+ year experience with Government of Alberta IT/IM practices.

Technical Skills:

  • SharePoint Online and SharePoint 2016
  • ShareGate migration tool
  • HTML, CSS, JavaScript
  • Adobe Creative Suite (asset)
  • PowerShell scripting
  • MS 365 Administration
  • Workflow and forms design (Nintex, Power Automate)
  • UX/UI design principles
