Our challenge
We are seeking a Design Strategist who will emphasizes a focus on aligning user experience with business objectives by conducting user research, creating user personas, and mapping user journeys to identify areas for improvement and enhance user onboarding and product adoption. They collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design solutions support strategic goals and create seamless, satisfying user experiences
Additional Information
The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Toronto, ON is CAD $130k - CAD $140k/year & benefits (see below).
The Role
Responsibilities:
- Frame problem spaces by considering multiple perspectives driving alignment amongst cross-functional teams.
- Support the design and facilitation of primary research (ex: in-depth interviews, contextual inquiry, diary studies), secondary research (ex: competitive analysis) and foresight research focused on building empathy for users.
- Synthesize multiple data sources and research insights into artifacts (ex: journey maps, personas, ecosystem maps).
- Design and facilitate co-creation workshops and ideation sessions to understand the current state and ideate on the potential future state.
- Present research insights that are actionable, compelling, and connected to business strategy to a range of audiences, including executives.
- Work in a fast-paced setting where problem spaces are broad and often ambiguous.
Requirements:
- Undergraduate or Graduate degree in Sociology, Anthropology, History, Psychology, Strategic Foresight or other research-oriented discipline of Humanities, Cultural studies, Political Science, or Business or equivalent work experience.
- 5-8 years of experience in strategy, design, consulting, and/or research.
- Qualitative research experience including selecting research methodologies, user recruitment, and writing research guides.
- Understanding of design thinking methodologies, tools and research methods.
- Comfortable planning and leading collaborative virtual and in-person workshops.
- The ability to take complex information and present insights in a simplified, easy to understand, visually appealing way to stakeholders.
- Ability to collect a variety of stakeholder feedback and iterate on outputs.
- Big picture thinker
