Position: Senior Data Engineer

Location: Toronto (Eaton Centre)

Type: 12-Month Contract, Hybrid (3-4 days on-site)

Role Overview:

We're looking for a proactive and confident Senior Data Engineer to join our Data Management team. In this role, you'll be deeply involved in business logic and performance tuning using Snowflake and Python, collaborating with architects and business analysts to ensure optimal performance, scalability, and architectural improvements.

This is a high-impact role that requires a Cloud mindset (GCP or AWS) and experience working with multiple vendors. The right person will take ownership of their work and actively contribute to evolving the data infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop scalable, reliable data pipelines and workflows using Airflow
• Implement and optimize Snowflake-based data architecture and models
• Write efficient and well-structured Python scripts for data processing and transformation
• Collaborate closely with architects and business analysts to align data infrastructure with business needs
• Monitor and optimize data quality and performance
• Participate in architectural design and performance tuning initiatives
• Contribute to the development of data governance policies and procedures
• Ensure secure and compliant data storage and flow
• Document processes in Confluence and follow best practices in performance and code quality

What You'll Bring:

• Strong proficiency with Snowflake, Airflow (must-have), and Python
• Solid SQL skills, with experience in performance tuning and query optimization
• Experience working with Cloud platforms (GCP or AWS preferred)
• Strong understanding of data warehousing and modeling concepts
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• A passion for clean, scalable, and efficient data solutions

Preferred Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience as a data engineer, building scalable data solutions
• Experience with dimensional modeling
• Experience with API integration and third-party systems
• Familiarity with agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban)
• Strong documentation and communication skills
