Your new role
As a Peoplesoft Database Administrator (DBA), you will be responsible for managing and optimizing DB2 databases on z/OS mainframe systems. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the stability, performance, and security of the Peoplesoft application database, specifically in DB2 z/OS environments. Key responsibilities include:
- Administering, maintaining, and optimizing DB2 databases on mainframe z/OS platforms
- Performing database design, performance tuning, backup and recovery, and security administration tasks
- Utilizing mainframe-specific tools such as DB2 Automation Tool, DB2 Object Comparison Tool, and DB2 Administration Tool
- Supporting database migrations and upgrades, with preference for experience migrating from DB2 to Oracle on AIX/Linux
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve database issues and provide production support, including on-call rotation as required
- Ensuring compliance with security and audit requirements for sensitive financial data
This role is based in Toronto and follows a hybrid work model: three days onsite and two days remote per week.
What you'll need to succeed
- Extensive experience as a DB2 Database Administrator on z/OS mainframe environments, with strong preference for prior experience managing Peoplesoft databases on DB2 z/OS
- In-depth knowledge of mainframe technologies, including z/OS, JCL, TSO, and related IBM utilities
- Proficiency in mainframe-specific DB2 tools for automation, object comparison, and administration
- Demonstrated expertise in database performance tuning, backup/recovery strategies, and security administration
- Experience supporting large-scale, high-availability database environments in the financial sector is highly desirable
- Nice to have: Experience with database migrations from DB2 to Oracle on AIX/Linux
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team, with flexibility for on-call support as needed
- Relevant certifications (e.g., IBM Certified Database Administrator - DB2 for z/OS) are an asset
