Europ Assistance Canada (EA Canada), part of Generali Group, is looking for a Chief Information Officer to join our Travel Insurance and Assistance team in Canada.

We are searching for an experienced candidate that will successfully contribute to the building of the local operations in Canada. Europ Assistance is a global company actively doing business in over 200 countries in the delivery of their products and services.

The Canadian business unit will strategically focus its efforts on the Travel Insurance industry with the distribution of product offerings and associated service solutions to key stakeholders for their customers traveling abroad or with in Canada.

Reporting locally to the CEO as part of the Senior Leadership Tea, the position also has a dotted line accountability with the IT Head of Expansion Countries.

The position is based in Toronto and the working environment is a mix of in-office and remote, though always in close collaboration with colleagues and stakeholders.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Driving IT Strategic Development in Canada: this involves formulating and executing IT strategies aligned with the organizations centralized model and vision, while addressing EA Canada's requirements and business objectives. It includes identifying opportunities for technology adoption, innovation, and growth while maximizing consistency, scalability and efficiency across regions
  • Leading The Deployment of Global Tools and Solutions Locally: As a leader, you'll foster collaboration among IT experts across different countries within the organization. Using this knowledge sharing, best practices, and collective problem-solving you will drive the implementation, integration and testing in support of the ongoing evolution and needs of EA Canada's technology platform and system infrastructure
  • Supporting Commercial Business Development: the representation of EA Canada in partner meetings, RFP & RFI bid proposals and On-boarding project management requirements for the growth objectives of the business.
  • General IT Oversight & Governance Leadership: responsibility or all aspects of the technology day to day deliverable for EA Canada in accordance with organization established guidelines, policies and governance implementation. This also includes managing recruitment, budgeting & forecasting, cost/expense modeling technology & digital roadmap planning, and performance reporting in collaboration with local COO. Ensuring efficient IT operations aligned with organizational goals is crucial.
  • Performance Monitoring: general and ongoing assessment of performance. This involves evaluating benefits, cost savings, and overall effectiveness at various levels - globally, regionally, and locally.

Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • In-Depth Knowledge of IT and Technology:
  • Must have a solid understanding of IT design software, data management, digital & AI technology trends.
  • Should have some knowledge about network infrastructure and IT security.
  • Adaptability to the specific requirements of the country or region under their supervision is essential.
  • Leadership and Team Management Skills:
  • Excellent leadership, impactful communication, empathy and team management skills.
  • Must be capable of leading and motivating a team of technical experts and take a higher perspective regarding the business value chain of the regional CEO and sales teams.
  • Should having a mindset of continuous improvement loop and to put in place processes to secure the critical knowledge in the regions.
  • Cultural and Regional Sensitivity:
  • Should understand cultural norms and the ability to adapt to a multicultural environment.
  • IT Pre-Sales & IT Sales activities:
  • Must have a strong and impactful communication when engaging with clients and prospects.
  • IT Operations Management: Local Head of IT is responsible for overall IT operations management within country.
  • This includes budget, planning, project management, system maintenance, and collaboration with local and global teams.
  • Strategy and alignment with Global EA:
  • Close collaboration with the global EA teams is necessary to align the local IT strategy with the overall company vision.
