About the Role
Reporting to the Mine Operations Manager, the Project Engineer is to lead and manage business improvement and engineering projects at our British Columbia mine site. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing project development from concept through execution, ensuring alignment with site operational goals, regulatory requirements, and corporate strategy. This role plays a key part in driving continuous improvement, optimizing performance, and supporting safe, sustainable mining operations. This position works 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off, fly in & out.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage business improvement and capital projects from inception to completion.
- Develop project proposals, defining objectives, scope, deliverables, timelines, and resource requirements.
- Perform financial analysis, cost-benefit assessments, and cash flow projections to support project justification and prioritization.
- Collaborate with operational and functional teams to align projects with site strategic objectives.
- Track and support execution of projects by working closely with operations, maintenance, and technical teams.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope and budget, while meeting safety and environmental standards.
- Apply project management tools and techniques (e.g., Gantt charts, risk matrices, stakeholder mapping) to monitor progress and resolve issues.
- Prepare and present regular status reports to senior management and key stakeholders.
- Provide general engineering and technical support to the operations and maintenance departments as required.
- Promote a culture of innovation and continuous improvement across departments.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with BC mining regulations, environmental standards, and company safety policies.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mining, Mechanical, Civil, or related discipline).
- Registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC).
- 3-7 years of relevant engineering or project management experience in the mining industry.
- Proficient in project management tools and software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, Excel).
Preferred Skills
- Strong understanding of mining regulations and health and safety standards in British Columbia.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced mining environment.
- Strong financial and analytical skills with the ability to interpret and communicate technical and economic data.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Strong commitment to safety, environmental compliance, and continuous improvement.
- Ability to work in a remote location and adapt to site-based work schedules.
Pay Range and Compensation Package
- $120,000 - $140,000 per annum
- STIP Bonus
