Job Summary:
The Structures / Concrete Superintendent is responsible for overseeing and managing all field operations related to structural and concrete work on construction sites. This includes supervising crews, coordinating subcontractors, ensuring safety and quality standards are met, and maintaining schedules and budgets. The role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise in concrete and structural work, and the ability to deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate all on-site structural and concrete construction activities.
- Ensure work is performed in accordance with project plans, specifications, and safety standards.
- Direct field personnel and subcontractors to ensure compliance with scope, schedule, and quality.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and inspectors to resolve construction issues.
- Bridgework and concrete flatwork.
- Schedule and sequence work efficiently to meet deadlines.
- Oversee formwork, rebar placement, concrete pours, finishing, and curing operations.
- Maintain and enforce safety policies and OSHA compliance at all times.
- Inspect work for quality control and adherence to plans and specifications.
- Maintain daily reports, logs, and other documentation as required.
- Coordinate materials delivery, equipment, and labor to maintain workflow.
Qualifications:
- Post secondary degree or diploma from a relevant engineering or construction management program.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in structural concrete construction, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
- Bridgework and concrete flatwork experience.
- In-depth knowledge of concrete formwork systems, reinforcement, mix designs, placing, and finishing.
- Proven track record of delivering structural packages safely, on time, and within budget.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction drawings.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Proficient in using construction management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
