VP of Data
Hybrid in Toronto (2 days a week in office)
Base Salary - up to $260K
Our client is an industry-disrupting fintech - as they continue to scale, they're looking for a VP of Data to build and lead the next phase of their data strategy, infrastructure, and analytics capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and lead high-performing data teams, aligning resources with strategic business priorities while maintaining strong fiscal responsibility.
- Act as a trusted advisor to leadership, translating data strategy into clear business impact and aligning on measurable outcomes.
- Drive the data vision and architecture, ensuring scalability, reliability, and accessibility of data systems across the business (experience with modern data stacks like Snowflake, dbt, and Looker is a strong plus).
Key Experience:
- Strong player-coach with a passion for mentoring data professionals while maintaining a hands-on understanding of data architecture, governance, and analytics.
- Proven success building and scaling data functions from early-stage (1-5 people) to full-scale teams across engineering, analytics, and governance.
- Fintech experience is prioritized, but relevant experience in data-heavy sectors like martech or adtech is also highly valued.
Additional Experience:
- Expertise in data strategy, data platform design, and implementing best practices in data quality and lifecycle management.
- Track record of turning data into a business lever, powering product decisions, personalization, and strategic insights.
- Familiarity with compliance and security best practices around data, especially within regulated industries.
- Strong communication skills to evangelize data literacy across the organization and influence senior stakeholders.
- A collaborative leadership style, fostering innovation and cross-functional alignment.
- Experience building robust data governance programs and self-service BI environments.
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-growth environments and scale data operations to match.
