Job Purpose:

Reporting to the Vice President, Stakeholder Engagement, the Policy Analyst will focus on research, analysis, and policy development to advance the organization's advocacy goals. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, includes:

  • Collaborating with stakeholders from coast to coast to coast
  • Analyzing tourism and economic data faster than a slapshot
  • Presenting brilliant ideas to TIAC Senior Leaders (no pressure, eh?)

In all Seriousness, Your Core Responsibilities:

1. Policy Research & Analysis:

  • Conduct research to gather data and intelligence on domestic and international tourism trends and policy issues.
  • Analyze policy developments and trends, assessing their impact on the tourism sector.

2. Policy Development:

  • Prepare briefing documents and presentations to support internal decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Support the development of long-term policy strategies aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Help to draft policy position papers, proposals, and formal submissions to government agencies.

3. Internal Data Management:

  • Maintain and update internal information databases, including statistical references on tourism industries and key market segments.
  • Write and maintain internal reports, including metrics to measure the performance of the tourism sector.

4. Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Provide policy insights and research findings to other departments within TIAC.
  • Participate in initiatives aimed at measuring the performance and competitiveness of the tourism sector.

You'll fit right in if you have:

  • A degree in something fancy (ex. public policy, economics, statistics, or political science) or an acceptable combination of education, training and expertise bonus point for familiarity working with StatsCan data, labour market information, or data visualization tools.
  • Legendary communication skills - in writing, over the phone or in person and preferably in both official languages.
  • Research skills - you can uncover insights that will influence meaningful policy decisions.
  • A sense of humor that can weather our long winters.

Perks of the job:

  • Competitive salary (paid in loonies and toonies twoonies?)
  • Modern workspace and hybrid work option
  • Generous vacation time to explore our great nation
  • A lifetime supply of "eh" and "sorry"
