This exciting opportunity offers a competitive salary ranging from $121,022 to $137,300 per year, plus an additional Northern Allowance of $16,008 annually for those residing in Iqaluit.

About the Organization

The Nunavut Housing Corporation (NHC) is an agency of the Government of Nunavut which serves the housing needs of one of the fastest growing and youngest populations in Canada. NHC's mandate is to create, co-ordinate, and administer housing programs in order to provide fair access to a range of affordable housing options to families and individuals in Nunavut. NHC has recently launched The Nunavut 3000 Strategy, () which is a collaboration between the government and its partners to deliver 3,000 new units across the housing continuum by 2030.

About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Director, Policy and Strategic Planning, the Senior Policy Analyst takes a lead role in the development, coordination, and management of strategic planning, policies and procedures of the Nunavut Housing Corporation. This position plays a key role in the division's achievement of corporate and divisional goals by keeping abreast of current housing and other related issues and trends, identifying and providing analysis on pertinent research areas, as well as integrating and disseminating this information as appropriate. The Senior Policy Analyst ensures the Policy and Planning Division efficiently provides the appropriate level of support required by the Directorate Office for the adequate oversight of the Corporation's operations.

The incumbent of this position is responsible for developing and reviewing guidelines, policies and legislation as well as producing high quality briefing materials for the Corporate Executive Committee, the NHC Board of Directors, Executive Council and the Financial Management Board. They will support the Director, Policy and Strategic Planning by performing comprehensive assessments of proposed policies and programs, identifying potential political, legal, social, economic and financial impacts and determining performance indicators and recommending modifications. The incumbent will also be responsible for liaising with national/international, provincial and territorial governments, Inuit organizations and other housing stakeholders; coordinating divisional involvement with Government of Nunavut departments and other agencies in developing interdepartmental initiatives.

About You

The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this position are usually obtained through a degree in a field such as Social Sciences, Communications, Economics, Business or Public Administration from a recognized post-secondary institution with a minimum of three (3) years of experience in developing and analyzing public policy and programs. Experience in a large organization or government setting as well as experience supervising, and leading work assignments are considered assets. Experience or education in analyzing housing markets is also considered an asset.

The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut's official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut, and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.
