As a Design Technician, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that all design projects meet the highest standards of accuracy and quality. You will become a subject matter expert on client design standards and will be conducting quality assurance reviews of all designs to ensure full compliance.
You'll be responsible for reviewing and interpreting site drawings and providing insight on improvements to designs, guidelines and processes. Your work will ensure seamless project execution while fostering collaboration across various teams and partners.
The main focus for this role is on conducting Quality Assurance/Quality Checks on telecom (fiber) designs completed by our partners. There are no specific drafting or design duties in this position (i.e., focus is on QA/QC designs completed by our partners).
This is a Remote work opportunity, however there could be occasional site meetings as required in/around the Calgary area. The candidate must have access to a personal vehicle.
YOU WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO:
Become an expert on client design standards, ensuring adherence across all relevant projects.
Conduct thorough quality assurance reviews of designs to confirm compliance with client Standards and identify areas for improvement.
Review and interpret site drawings, leveraging experience to accurately digitize plans
Design new plant, plant extensions produce various maps for construction purposes
Designs fiber optic communications network to Client design specifications
Communicates with the Permit department and Coordinators to gather and provide accurate information regarding construction design and drafting.
Determines method to design the plant change with minimal impact to the system/customer and minimize related construction cost & ensures quality of design
Ensure designs are high quality, are completed within the prescribed time limits and to the clients' standards and specifications
THIS ROLE IS FOR YOU IF YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND QUALITIES:
3 - 5 years' experience in a related field of Telecommunications
Must be proficient in using Windows and Microsoft suite of tools i.e. Outlook, Teams
AutoCAD familiarity is an asset
Excellent attention to detail
Familiar with construction methodologies an asset
Working knowledge of engineering design and survey methods
Ability to work and focus on a project in a fast-paced environment with an upbeat attitude
