Lead Product Compliance Engineer

Purpose

The Product Compliance Specialist will support the development of new off-road equipment, attachments, implements, and accessories for the North American market. The candidate will report industry standards and regulatory information to various company groups and provide on those topics, working with Product Compliance Group and as a liaison to the Legal team. The candidate will also be responsible for conducting machine and scene inspections, including fire investigations, and providing technical data and assistance to Legal. The candidate will also review owner/operator manuals, installation manuals, and marketing/advertising literature.

Responsibility:

  • Assist in the development of prototypes by reviewing the machines to the applicable standards, regulations, and product compliance requirements.
  • Track new and ongoing standards and regulations for their impact on products and business.
  • Attend industry compliance meetings as an active member and/or attendee, including groups such as: ASABE, SAE, OPEI, ISO, AEM, US EPA, CARB, ECCC, TC, WorkSafeBC, etc. This candidate will provide input from, and feedback to the corporate company, reflecting the cumulative thoughts and beliefs of this company.
  • Perform liaison duties with International R&D teams to ensure timely information flow, and work similarly with Legal on product regulatory matters
  • Submit applications to various government agencies to be compliant under each machine category.
  • Review owners/operator's manuals and other product literature to meet the most current industry practices and standards.
  • Utilize equipment to support design verification/validation methods and participate in equipment demonstrations at corporate sales and dealer meetings.
  • Conduct machine and scene investigations, including fire cause and origin investigations; research and obtain technical data.
  • Provide assistance and support on Canadian regulatory issues, including required reporting to Health Canada and Transport Canada
  • Participate in product and business sustainability projects.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in a science, engineering technology, legal, or related field required.
  • 2+ years relevant experience preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience in chemical compliance, battery electric vehicles, fire investigations and/or engines and fuel systems a plus.
  • Certified fire origin and cause investigator.
  • 15-30%; domestic and possibly international
